One of the few trails that I've been on that has fun little stops along the way. Stops in Wayzata, Mound, Spring Park & Waconia. Stop and eat at Dakota Junction.

love this bike trail as there is so much to see along the way. The trail is well maintained and goes through some small towns. We've stopped and picked up lunch along the way, as well as made it a destination to stop at the St. Boni Bistro.

I started out my run right in Wayzata. I love that this trail is so accessible. It is level, paved and wide enough for several people to pass by each other. I also like that there is some shade along it as well as some open areas. It seems pretty heavily used, which is a good thing. I felt completely safe while running alone.

Flat because it was a old Train right of way. Most views blocked by trees but still enjoyable. Remember to take water because there isn't any on the trail.

Plenty of parking at the start in Wayzata, beautiful, well maintained trail. Restroom facilities at the beach. Lots of professional and dedicated bikers.

... and my private trail the other 90% of the week! This is a great FLAT trail for family biking, walking (I won't say hiking) that has a few great spots along the way with amazing views of the Lake Minnetonka area. Hit the eastern part of the trail to get to the Arcola bridge for amazing sunset views (and firework views of the Lafayette Club Labor Day fireworks). The trail moves through several amazing cities that have a long history on the lake. There are stories to be heard here. On weekends be careful. I personally only use the trail for running and when I am on my bike, I ride along the amazing shoulders of the roads all around lake minnetonka. Why the large groups of riders that are moving along at 15-20 mph feel it necessary to use this trail is beyond me... When I am with my younger daughters on their bikes, I'll either take my wifes cruiser or run along with them. Watch out for Minnetonka Beach! There are a ton of stop signs for the trail users... be smart about you speed and specifically watch out for the trail intersection by the turn in for Lafayette Club just after the tennis courts (if you are coming from the east)... there are no less than 5 roads and a trail crossing at one point!!! At a minimum SLOW DOWN and watch closely, and even better come to nearly a stop before proceeding. I have seen too many accidents already on this trail, I have been hit while running several times by bikers not paying attention and have come across several bikers that have gone down, one without a helmet that needed assistance getting back home! That all said, it is a beautiful trail to ride! Slow down, look around and enjoy some of the amazing views that it has to offer as you move through the Lake Minnetonka area!
