We had a fantastic time at the 4D Ranch. The place is easy, nice and real. Lot of effort into details and horses in absolut perfekt shape. Brad the owner, showed us a lot about horsemanship. He really enjoyed it to get all his love to real cowboy life and love to the horses through and make everybody happy. Food is excellent due to a marvelous cook. For us and our two girls probably the best holiday ever. Thank you cowboy!
If you are looking for a luxury pamperimg holiday, you have xome to the wrong place! Brad Ford, owner of the 4D Longhorn Guestranch is a authentic born and bred cowboy. He offers trailriding and cattle herding experiences in a rustic log cabin ranch situated amongst beautiful Idaho scenery. Leave your laptops at home, bring a flashlight to find your way to your cosy cabin and the bathhouse, should you decide to stay around the campfire after dark.I found him ang his ranch hand, currently a great german lady, to be excellent horse people both patient and prepared to explain and answer any questions. They will completely saddle your horses for you, but I was keen to learn about the western style of kit and so was soon able to saddle my own horse, thanks to them. Safety is a big issue, so all new riders to the fram, get an intro how to handle a horse. When signing the indemnity, the level of riding is asked and this is taken into account. I stayed for a week and so had the opportunitynto ride a different horse everyday. Even a mule - don't laugh before you've tried it. If I could have taken Josie Wells, that's the name of the mule with me, I would have!Experiences included trailriding up into the mountains, helping to sort and herd cattle, some roping experience, 'hunting' huckleberries in the mountains for breakfast pancakes the next morning. Fortunately, we were succesful and wew able to enjoy killer huckleberry pancakes the next morning. crossimg water on horseback was another highlight. then there were the subtler lessons about horsemanship which were given along the way and which have helped so much.walking on the meadow wher the horses graze, I has been assisting in looking after the health of one horse in particular. What a absolutely amazing experience it was when he came to me from far away after I simply called his name once. He stayed with me and allowed me to inspect him and then we happily strolled through the meadow together for a while until a juicy piece of grass drew his attemtion away from me -I can live with that though : ).All in all, I would go back in a heartbeat if it was not so far away. I hope the small little niggly things that always seem to accompany such an operation are busy sorting themselves out - as mentioned initially, if you need fresh fluffy towels every morning and and your bed linen crisp to a 'T', this is probably not for you. But, if you want to experience raw and beautiful countryside on horseback, roast hotdogs on the mountain during a mid-ride picknick, sleep in a cosy logcabin, enjoy all the creature comforts that the bathhouse has to offer you, plus get fed really, really well then finally allow the day to meander out by swopping stories, then you've absolutely come to the right place.Brad tries to make your dreams about cowboy true, so feel free to tell what you would like to do (wiyhin reason of course). )His friends at a horse sale say about him that he is still one of the few true cobwoys: "if it has hair on it Brad Ford can ride it!"Thank you Brad, Simone and Laura
Visited the 4D Experience at the London Eye today, It was amazing and should not be missed if visiting the London Eye
There are not the words to describe how great this place is; log cBins, stunning scenery, riding that is outstanding. The horses are matched to the rider based on skill, experience and temperament, the tuition is excellent and the rides out have views that you won't get anywhere else. The ranch itself has a great family feel and everyone mucks in as much or as little as they wish. Brad and the team there embrace you into the 4d family and you couldn't wish for better hospitality (try the cookies and you won't want to leave)! The ranch is true to its cowboy roots meaning no internet, phone signal etc etc, and be prepared to take a torch as electricity is really only in the main lodge with paraffin lamps in the cabins but don't let this deter you, there is everything you need with 3 good meals a day plus snacks, camp fires, comfy beds, beautiful surroundings and horses and hospitality that is unbeatable. I would recommend this to anyone and we will definitely be going back.
My family and I were looking for an escape from our busy California workweek and saw the website for 4D Longhorn Guest Ranch (http://www.4dranches.com/). This working 'Dude Ranch' was just what we needed - no internet, limited phone service, and all the wilderness we could handle. It was everything that we had hoped for and more. They truly have the Western hospitality and made every effort to make sure we felt welcome and comfortable while giving us a true ranch experience. They also had a few unexpected luxuries to enjoy as well. We relaxed, reading on leather couches, explored the vast meadow in front of the lodge on foot, and explored the mountains on horseback. Each horse was specifically selected for each rider in terms of size and temperament, and we all thoroughly enjoyed herding the longhorn cattle and riding through the forest. I highly recommended this place for a chance to escape to a different time and lifestyle. It's a great place for kids and adults, with activities to do and so much beautiful scenery to see. More then that, the people really made us feel like an important part of the ranch and showed unparalleled hospitality. This is a must visit place!San Jose, CA
It is great for couples, families, friends, business retreat, or going solo. This was my 4th trip to the ranch. I don't think it can get any better and every time I get surprised with a new riding trails, steady strong & spirited horses, spring baby longhorn calf's, great guests from all over the world, fresh (and I mean fresh) cowboy cooking. It truly is a place where "Everybody is a Cowboy"... No experience needed just a desire to be out in the great outdoors, . Better yet this is a fantastic & authentic adventure for the most experienced of riders and ranchers. I took my childhood friend Sylvia, who was visiting from California. She being an experienced horseman was overwhelmed at the beauty, comfort, accommodations and reality of the trail hiking horses... This is the type of get-a-way that will bring out the cowboy-western lifestyle in everyone, no matter what your true country root may be. I will be back again and again, especially with my out of state friends and family as they come to visit me in this great state known as Idaho, this is my Cowboy Country! Whether you live over the hill in Boise, over seas in Australia, Hong Kong, or just a state or two away, "Go to the 4D Longhorn Guest Ranch", stay a weekend, a week, a month or a just a day. ....This will be your best adventure in Idaho! All you need to do is decide to go... 3 great meals a day, beautiful horses to play and ride, cowboy bonfires including marshmallow-smores, cowboy poetry and song... you can bring your own voice!!!So can you tell "I love it there". So much to shareIt is great for couples, families, friends, business retreat, or going solo
