Some time ago, my wife and I went to this museum. It was a great experience learning a little bit about the history of Rexburg and the surrounding areas. It was quite small, but it was worth seeing the old memorabilia and models of historical locations that once stood in Rexburg. The movie about the Teton Dam flood was interesting learning about the damage that it caused both in Rexburg, St. Anthony, Rigby, Idaho Falls and many other communities. Yet like previous commentary about the location is the greatest message given at the museum the importance of community unity in times of trouble.
We visited this many years ago. We were students when the flood occurred and have several friends that lost everything in the flood. It was a testament to the good-will of a community pulling together to dig out of a real mess caused by the dissolution of an earthen dam. I recommend all see this museum
The museum is in the basement - so call ahead to get assistance with the wheel-chair lift. (Jill was most helpful). The film is very informative; not only explaining the engineering decisions that led to the collapse of the dam but also the town rebuilding efforts (in the UK we call it "war-time spirit").The scale model and many historic artifacts made our visit a worthwhile couple of hours.
