I love gift shops, and I have been to hundreds all over the world. Yet this little shop has me coming back again and again. The atmosphere is friendly. Specialties: Delaware and Maryland gifts, things for firefighters, dog and cat lovers, candles, flags, quilted bags, jewelry, soaps and lotions. My favorite: seasonal decorations; right now of course Spring and Easter. The Hen House participates in the Strawberry Festival, which is held on the 3rd or 4th Sat. in May, next on Sat., May 18, 2013. Pick your own strawberries, home made strawberry ice cream, wagon rides. Set on the edge of a working farm. Easily accessible to all locations in western Sussex County, DE; worth a special trip from the Maryland and Delaware beaches.
