You can't beat the price, especially if you get a Groupon deal. The tour is interesting and short, we aren't at one of the big mahoffs here and that's a good thing! The taproom is where the fun is! The employees are very knowledgeable regarding the various brews on tap and are fun. Look at for different events held here; they are fun and worth it.
Fordham / Old Dominion Brewery is a fun social getaway in Dover. Your experience will begin when you greeted by the friendly staff and patrons as you arrive. The bar area is small but allows for mixed conversations and makes it easy to meet new people. Now the important part....The Beer. They really have something for everyone; from light to dark plus seasonal beer. I would recommend the tour to learn about their operation, but if you prefer just to do a tasting..they won't think any less of you. If you monitor their Facebook page you will see they have a lot of events that are fun for the family and bar goers alike.
We were on the wine and ale trail and this was going to be our last stop for the day. We arrived with plenty of time to do the 6pm tour they offer on Fridays. We walked in and they turned us away because they were hosting a private event for one of the local colleges. Normally I wouldn't mind, but I would expect that if you only offer a limited number of tours that you would advertise you are closed to the public for the day, so no one tries to visit. Disappointed in the lack of courtesy.
We purchased this brewery tour and tasting via Groupon, and visited on a Saturday afternoon. On arrival you have to check in, then you're given a 4 oz. souvenir glass for tasting and four beer tickets. You're encouraged to start sampling the beers prior to the start of the tour, and to bring a full glass on tour with you. This is a micro brewery ,so the tour only takes about 30 min. After the tour you can go back to the bar and use the remainder of your tickets for 4 oz. samples. I think this is a great little tour and very reasonably priced at only $5.00 per guest ,without the Groupon.
I didn't have high expectations of this brewery tour having never heard of or tried any of their beers before. The tour and tasting were a lot of fun and the atmosphere was great. You pay a small fee for the tour and get 3 samples and a tasting glass or pint glass. They were unfortunately out of the summer beach beer, which was a disappointment to our group. My personal favorite was the oak stout and the sodas are definitely also a must try! They may have been the highlight of the tastings. Overall a fun stop and would recommend. The tour and tasting room were both kid friendly.
For the price of the tour, you get samples of beer. Great way to find out which beers are better than others and are to your liking. Great tour - especially for a first timer.
They carry several beers that I enjoy and my wife and grandchildren LOVE their root beer. However, I wish that they would fill growlers.
A great brewery, but the people really made it special. Lauren is amazing, by far the most engaging and friendly and welcoming person we had the pleasure of meeting along our tour of Brewery Tours. If I am even close to the Dover area, I am emailing Lauren and stopping by the brewery. Drinking beer was taken to a whole 'nother level.
Have been there to purchase beer and their delicious root beer. I also took their tour once. However very disappointed in that they do not fill growlers.
A small brewery with friendly staff. there is a fee for the tour, I think $15. I thought at first that it seemed hi for a few minute tour and to promote your product; however it includes several nice size samples and two 16 oz beer glasses. We left very pleased and met some great people.
I recently took my family on the Fordham Brewing tour. First off, it's a great value--Only $5 per person for 5+ 4-oz (?) glasses of beer and a pint to take home. The tour was interesting and informative, but you can tell the real energy is in allowing customers to try the different ales and having a good time. The people were fun and friendly and we had a great time!
For $5, it's hard to beat. Good beer and good location from down town Dover. The bar area was nice. It's really just a small bar and brewery. The bathroom was clean, which is always nice. The tour was an hour, tops. You could leave the tour and get a refill, then come back.
I took my grandmother, an ale fan, here one weekend. The staff was very nice and the tour was good. The ale was not my personal favorite: I like the wisteria wheat and the Double D ale, but the Oak Barrel one tasted like a melted chocolate milkshake (I like chocolate but not this kind), and the Mountain Hops ale is VERY bitter-moreso than I thought it would be. But I would definitively recommend this place, even if I have had better ale and pilsner before.
A beautiful facility with interesting people and excellent information. The tour begins with tasting in a small area, the bartenders were super attentive and very informative. The tour was short and sweet and our tour guide, Kevin, was very knowledgable and did an excellent job of answering everyone's questions. We can't wait to return again and sample more brews! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone!
The tour is informative and laid back. Enjoyable afternoon with time spent learning about their beer. Well done
