We hiked the Brighton Lakes Trail yesterday and it was beautiful! We drove from Park City, and it took about 40 minutes to get there (the drive, btw, was AMAZING but a bit scary at times). This was an out and back, which took us a little over two hours. Along the way, we saw Dog Lake, Lake Mary, Lake Martha and Lake Catherine. The hike was not overly strenuous, but there are definitely some inclines that got the heart rate up. The trail was well marked, and I felt perfectly safe the entire time (my husband and I are casual hikers, the only equipment we have are hiking boots). We started the hike around 8 am, and saw about 6 groups along the way, so it was not crowded when we went. Overall, this was a great, peaceful hike - highly recommend if you want to see the beauty Utah has to offer!

If you like just driving through and admiring the mountains, this is for you. The aspens were so colorful and the pines are so tall and thick in places it is a Black Forest.

This actually the Uinta-Wasatch- Cache National Forest(but I couldn't find it listed in TripAdvisor)I couldn't stop taking pictures. Every place you go and around every turn its just gorgeous. We did a short walk up at one of the 9,000+ feet campsites. Then drove out to the pass on Route 150. Campsites are rugged but easily accessible. The roads are closed in the winter due to snow. That leaves the back country amazingly fresh all year round. In lower altitudes on the west end, its a free range cattle grazing area so watch where you step!

Must see! Beautiful tranquil place. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommend visiting. Bring your camera!

We had a fantastic day, topped off by climbing Bald Mountain! The views were spectacular, we had mountain goats crossing our path - they are unbelievable! The trek was work, but definitely worth the effort.

It was nice to escape up here during the summer for cooler weather. I drove the Big Cottonwood Canyon road all the way up to Brighton Ski Area and parked at the Silver Lake Visitor center. The center has restrooms, water and trash cans. Behind the center is the loop trail around Silver Lake, which is nice if you have kids or need something relatively short and easy. From that same trail, you can access other hikes like Twin Lakes or Lake Solitude. None of these is a very tough hike but you can string them together for a good day of hiking.

Had a great hike into the lakes. Actually used the map to travel to all of the Cubberant Lakes. Each lake was different. One had salamanders and frogs for my scouts to catch. One had beautiful yellow Lilly's.

Interesting hills/mountains in the area and peaceful places to walk and have lunch. Chipmunks are always cute.

From the Brighton ski lodge, the trail is well marked. The air is fresh and cool, the wildflowers abundant, and the mountain views breathtaking.

This part of the National Forest System provides some of the best opportunities for hiking, fishing, and all around enjoyment of any place on earth. The unique proximity to cities, yet the quick departure into wilderness areas allows for day trips into otherwise inaccessible locations. A favorite is a day hike up Little Cottonwood canyon from the White Pine trail head to either White Pine or Red Pine Lakes. Be ready for a vigorous hike, but a rewarding moment of incredible peace as you enjoy the vistas of these steep side canyons. Because it is a watershed for Salt Lake City, there is no overnight camping allowed at these lakes. If longer stays are your interest, there are campgrounds all throughout the reaches of the Wasatch Mountains. It is a fabulous place to visit the fantastic forests, canyons, and streams that abound with wildlife.

with plenty of different trails to choose from, we found one less traveled on on the north side of the canyon which lead us past abandoned mines and to a beautiful mountain meadow filled with wildflowers.

Great campsites. Plenty of shade to escape the high sun. Be watchful of the bicyclists. They're everywhere!

The mountains rise up beautifully from Salt Lake City. It is quite remarkable how the land hours from flat to giant mountains so quickly. The area is remarkable. The mountains are beautiful. I love it here.

My husband took a hike through the forest. Take a camera because you will get some fantastic photos if you love nature.
