We stopped in Price, Utah, on our way from Arches National Park back to Ogden, Utah. My husband likes to see whatever museums or historical sites are in towns we visit so I reluctantly agreed to visit the USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum. What a wonderful experience it was! Lloyd Logan, the director of education and exhibits, was called by the museum store staff to answer questions they couldn't. Mr. Logan showed us all around the exhibits and shared his wealth of knowledge about all of them. It was a wonderful experience to be in the presence of someone so knowledgeable about paleontology and who was willing to share that knowledge with us.
Some of my selections, specifically the date, are not truly accurate. I have visited the museum numerous times with family and with the group of adults I work with in a day program for adults with special needs. It's family friendly with activities for children, the staff is helpful if you have questions, exhibits have good explanation and exposure and are frequently updated. It's an amazing attraction in a small town. There is also a small gift shop and there are books available for purchase.
This museum has a lot of quality pieces. Took our 1 year old daughter and even she liked it. Museum staff was really friendly too.
A very nice yet small Natural History Museum. Focus is on the local geology, zoology and history. I have been several times and will often revisit while in the area.
This is a great museum to learn about the historic and prehistoric. The displays are informative, attractive and well done. A great stopover for the whole family to enjoy. They always have something new if you haven't been in awhile too.
This is a nice sized museum with an extensive collection of dinosaurs. They have skeletons, eggs, footprints, and a huge clam.
This is a very intresting museum in a very remote place. There are a lot of fossils and dinosaurs. They also have a lot of native artifacts. There is a play area for children. You can also watch them feed the alligator, turtle and a lizard. Very intresting place to visit.
We visited here in August 2014 with our 3 and 5 year old. They were interested in the exhibits and liked looking at the huge dinosaurs. The museum has a lot of puebloan artifacts and tons of locally found fossils. There is also a children's area to play with ladders and fossil discovery.
We found this place using trip advisor while planning a trip to Moab. Definitely worth the stop. We used the family price plan and saved a few bucks which was good. The place has a lot more than we expected and we really enjoyed the large displays and the easy to navigate floor plan. If traveling through the area and you have an interest in local dinosaurs, Native American history and other happenings in early Utah, then this is your place. The staff were also quite friendly here and seemed to enjoy what they are doing which is a plus.
Could not believe the size of those mammoths! All of the bones shown are so huge, we just find it hard to believe such animals existed. Although not that interested in this type of thing-so glad that we visited. Very nice
I have visited this museum many times, for 20 years taking first graders on field trips there, and each year there have been additions and improvements. There is always something new for me to see and learn about. It is always interesting. The Hall of Man has the Mammoth and Native American exhibits, the Hall of Dinosaurs has many exhibits. Some times you can see the scientists working on new displays and fossils. It is a fun place to be. Sometimes there are art exhibits, sometimes new fossils and always something impressive,
It was being revamped while we were there, but there were still many great things to see. I learned a lot about the evolution of dinosaurs. I am not particularly into them so never really gave it much thought. I also enjoyed the tree stumps which were turned into coal. There are also Native American displays including a really old cradle board.
For a small town this is a great museum! The Mammoth is really amazing as well as many other artifacts in there. for indian relics to dinosaur bones there is a lot of things to see!
The Prehistoric Museum in Price, Utah is a wonderful museum with great displays of dinosaurs bones and dinosaur tracks (and a wonderful explanation of how dinosaur track fossils originated). Other topics included displays about the Fremont and Anasazi Indians.
We stopped here on our way from Moab to Provo. This is a really great museum. It's not fancy but they provide lots of information in good displays. Dinosaurs and the early peoples of Utah are covered. Both featured interesting topics not usually covered in similar museums.
