Interesting if you're into history. It's where the first atomic bomb was assembled. There were many artifacts dating back to that era. There was also a short film about WWII, and the development of the bomb.

It is a work in progress. Rebuilding the structures that have diminished over the decades. All the information shared as to what our parents and grandparents did in the past thru the Air Force and prepareing for that fateful day.

Remember this is where the tested for the atomic bomb during WWII. lots to see and we never stop learning. Wendover has lots of history.

This was a nice break from the casinos. Learned a lot about the Army Air Base Wendover. They have a small and quaint museum/gift shop. At this time they have NO aircraft, except an gutted out plane that was used to film "Con Air". They are working on trying to get aircraft, and renovate the hangers and other buildings. It is sad to have a government that has forgotten our history. Enola Gay, and BocksCar were station here, so the pilots could practice the "BOMB" drops and escapes. It was a GREAT escape. Tours are offered for a reasonable price

Yeah, a visit to the Wendover airfield means experiencing the atmosphere of the cold war and the 50's/60's atomic developments. It's mostly deserted, but if you like post-war industrial design, it's a must to visit!

Was fortunate to stumble on this little piece of history.. Hard to believe something so great started so close to home. Landed in a small plane here.. Very quaint and efficient airport.

The historical value to this little airfield is immeasurable! The Enola Gay was loaded at Wendover Airfield for that historical flight! Some very interesting sights and very sad to say the base itself is in such disrepair! The museum is very interesting and certainly worth a visit.

They had a short informative video and you just looked around and read about the items showcases at the museum. Okay but no one there to really tell you a lot about what you were seeing.

Airfield was really historical. I learned a lot here and saw the world war airplane! I felt really good coming here.

By chance - because the racing on the nearby Bonneville Salt Flats had been cancelled - we thought we would visit the Historic Wendover Airfield Museum. It is really difficult to find and we almost gave up the quest. However, with the help of several people, we did find the Museum and we were glad we did so. Having seen the Enola Gay in the Smithsonian Museum near Dulles Airport, we were interested in seeing where the operational training had taken place. The short eight-minute film about wartime Wrndover was certainly worth-watching and the exhibits worth seeing - especially the well-made mock-up atomic bomb that sent shivers up the spine. The Museum is well worth a short visit.

I was in Wendover to photograph the World of Speed Event on the Bonneville Salt Flats, and as there is very little to do in Wendover other than gamble, I visited this Airfield. The Air Show happened to be going on that day, so it made the visit well worthwhile. You can easily kill an hour or so walking around the area, as it is not small. There are some modest exhibits -- modest because this place is trying to stay afloat with private donations. It is worth a visit if you are in the area -- you can call ahead an arrange for a tour, which would likely enhance your experience.

Stopped here with my 16yo niece. We both enjoyed it way more then we ever thought possible. A piece of US History right here in the desert! This base holds the hanger for the Enola Gay, the aircraft that dropped bombs on both Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A short tour, definitely worth visiting.

Everyone goes to Bonneville salt plains but I can bet you that not 10% of those people make the effort to come here and that shows in the presentation of the base and museum, it is very sad because this place was and is very important in the worlds history, I would like to see the Casinos investing some of their huge profits in upgrading this piece of American history that was the ending off world war 2 and giving them the freedoms they have today. The people we met and spoke to who are volunteers are all very passionate about this AirfieldGo and look at this place and talk to the people and buy something so they can upgrade the facilities and get more vistors. Thanks for listening to my rant

I'm shocked this place isn't a national landmark -- it certainly should be! Sadly until then, it's just a nice footnote of an incredibly poignant part of the WWII story with a lot of depressing and decomposing "history" everywhere you look. All WWII era aviation enthusiasts should consider this a must DO, all others...don't go out of your way for it until they fully restore the base.
