If you are adamantly opposed to hunting, this place may offend. Otherwise, it's just cool. Kids will love it. The museum is extensive and has a tremendous diversity of species, all organized in different settings, based on habitat. It's like walking through different parts of the world (and it's BIG). For the record, it also spends a good deal of energy advocating for conservation and habitat protection, from the unique perspective of those who enjoy hunting.

We stopped here to get information about St. George. The information center was inside the Museum and had little to offer. We spoke to a gentlemen working at the visitor center, not the museum. First, he was engaged in a conversation with other folks, and though we were waiting seemed to have a personal conversation, telling his stories. The it was our turn. He seemed more interested in telling us stories about his golfing and fishing than answering questions. His directions and help to the old part of town were poor, and misleading (as we soon found out). When I asked him about the town center and what it had to offer, he told me about the mall and outlets. He really didn't answer my questions, and made sexist, ageist comments, even though we were probably the same age. I definitely got the impression he cared more about his story telling and less about answering a woman's questions. Many people were behind me, so I left with still questions and directions left unanswered. Best not to depend on this visitors center. February 25, 2015.

The museum is easy to find just off I-15 and exit 6 and in the same building as the Utah Visitor Center where there is plenty of free parking. Discounts are given on the price of admission for seniors, children and AAA members.The admission includes the price of a wand which tells you about the wildlife you are seeing as you take the self-guiding tour of the over 300 animals on display from five different continents in the over 33,000 square foot viewing area. Guests of all ages will enjoy the animals. Some are so unusual in color and markings and with peculiar antlers and horns that you wonder if there really are creatures like this.I found the wand to somewhat cumbersome to hold and wish it would have had a cord to go around your neck. Also there is no fast forward or replay so if you miss something in the narration you must return to the very beginning and start again. Second, the narration does not cover all the animals. The narrator gives the name of the specific animal at the beginning, but it can be difficult to locate the exact animal because the narration hops around and sometimes there is more than one variety of a specific species within the display.My other problem was the sidewalk to the top is a bit steep and the handrail is not continuous. Because of surgery, I was in a wheelchair when I was there and struggled up the steep parts. There is an elevator and if climbing is a problem (there are no steps along the sidewalk), I would suggest taking the elevator and starting at the top so you are walking down the slope rather than climbing uphill.Overall, I was glad I went and thought the dioramas were well done and learned about and saw some unique and rare animals. It is an incredible collection. There is a gift shop but no place to buy anything to eat or drink. There are also rotating displays which included butterflies and insects when I was there. The General Manager said they are making changes to the wand and will address some of the issues I mentioned above. Next time I am in St George I will probably stop again as there is much to see. Certain displays have additional codes to press for in depth information. I spent about an hour on my tour.

This exhibit had many kinds of animals in nicely done settings. A path wound around on all levels so you could take in the different habitats and species. Kids would like it as well as adults.

It was really hot so we looked for something indoors to do with our grandkids. Decided to try the museum. Wow, were we surprised. The collection of wildlife (taxidermy) was amazing and our grandkids loved the narrations more than we thought they would. (self guided).

My husband and I went on a rainy mid-week afternoon to check out this place. It was really cool! They have done a wonderful job of preserving the animals in lifelike situations. It was tastefully done and the self-guided tour headset was easy to use and very informative. There is also a nice gift shop geared towards children and a ton of visitor information for the area.

To me a museum is where you can learn a great deal of information about the subject and go away with some new knowledge. This place is more like one guy's trophy collection. It is impressive with some nice dioramas but it just wasn't my thing. There are no informational placards to read, just an audio "tour" which was less than enlightening. There was also a lot of pro-hunting propaganda and my opinion of conservation is a little different than protecting animals to shoot them. Also, seemed a little expensive for what it was.

I loved this place. Very clean and quiet. Interestingly displayed and well done for good information about the area.

Very informative and educational. Great natural displays. Only complaint - the entire place smelled musty or moldy. Time to give those animals a hose down!

Visited this place with my husband this year. It is very cool to see so many full body mounts of animals across the world, not just in North America. Anyone interested in seeing things like this should stop in a see it. There is more than you will care to count. Even has a giraffe mounted!! Its pretty cool to see.

I had mixed feelings about going here, but I needed to entertain my husband one day while staying in nearby Brian Head (no snow) so this was on my 'options' list. Okay, let me first say that I am apposed to hunting animals for sport. I am glad it costs so much to hunt these gorgeous animals all over the world. Otherwise they would certainly be extinct. Now that that is out of the way I have to say it is one of the most beautiful displays of wildlife I have ever seen in any museum. We paid to have the audio and that was very interesting as he told stories of personal experiences he had on some of his hunts for particular animals. We didn't see any of the videos while there, just took the self guided tour. Good day trip.

My son loves this museum. All of the animals are displayed in habitats... The staff is wonderful. Wish we would have had more time for the movies

This is a hidden unsung gem in Saint George. Lots and lots! of specimens. I was really surprised and pleased. Probably the best and largest collection of ruminants in the West. Yet, small enough of a facility that you can make it a quick visit too.

Is taxidermic a word? Haha, this is a pretty cool place. I would put the over/under on age of interest for kids at about 12 years old. In other words, if you have teens, it might be a little dull, unless they are big into animals or possibly hunting. My four year old thouroughly enjoyed this place and so did my wife and I. We have also been here once before with two of our kids when they were younger. This time, we decided to drop them off at a movie instead of taking them along. Basically, this is a giant hunting showcase for big game from around the world. Everything from bears to a camel and a zebra are on display. There must have been 50 animals I have never heard of or seen before. The audio tour is quite interesting and the visual display, while not spectacular is quite good. Worth an hour or so of your time. Caution, if you are an animal rights person, this is not for you!

We first took the grandkids, but had to go back to enjoy it ourselves. At 9-6-6 years old, they were too impatient to see it all. The children loved it as we did. A great rainy day activity, though we rarely have those in St George.
