This winery is so charming. The owners, Nick and Jim Thomas are VERY knowledgeable about all kinds of wines. It's fun to tour the factory where the wine is bottled, corked, and labeled. Even their labels are printed right there, have a distinctive picture of Albert Monastero, the grandfather of the owners. The tastings are free, the award winning Chambourcin being the top of the line. They produce about 20 different wines, which covers every palate. The wines are excellent! Worth the visit because of the great wine, scenery, and feeling of being a part of the fantastic Thomas, Domico, Milazzo family.
This winery is absolutely one I consider to be the best! Wonderful wine, prize winning, served at some presidential and vice presidential celebrations. Nick and Jim, the winemakers, will give you a tour of the winemaking process. Free tastings too!! A MUST if you visit Eadtern Tennessee !
I recently visited here for the first time while visiting family in nearby Kingsport. It was very clean and nice and you can taste any of the wines free of charge. I tastes a bottle of their Chardonnay and it was pretty good. After purchasing a cold bottle from the cooler,I took it back to my hotel. Much to my disappointment, after opening the bottle I discovered that it was corked! It was un drinkable! I was leaving to return home and unable to return it. I think they need to check their wines that have been bottled periodically to avoid this.
Stopped here because my GPS listed it as closest to my route. Well informed vintner, Jim, introduced us to his wares. And about the east Tennessee area surrounding his winery. We love the blackberry. They have a very good selection of dry, sweet and fruit wines. We eventually bought a case (15% off) and plan to stop here again when we are on I-81 traveling.
My husband and I visited Countryside Winery this weekend. It was like going home! This was my 3rd visit to the winery and each time have been treated like family. The wine is good and very, very reasonable. The family that owns the winery makes every guest feel like family.
Found this on Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try. The family is very nice and friendly - allowed to try any wines at all and they have about 20 types. Prices are very reasonable and the wine is pretty good. Some are better than others, as expected, but we ended up buying 6 bottles. We also walked the vineyards and enjoyed the views.
Loved this place! Tastings of course, and owners have won awards with several of their wines. I enjoyed my time here, and bought a few bottles :)
We stopped on our way home from Baltimore/DC area. It is just barely off the e-way but enough to be very quiet. The grounds are beautiful and the store very charming. The gentleman that provided us with the tasting was very knowledgable and courteous. We tasted a few different wines and bought a couple. They have a great selection of wine related items. Great for wine tastings and parties at home. They also carry wine and beer making supplies. A great stop for us!
Well. If it is great wine you are looking for, keep driving. It's average. Nothing to brag about here.
The owners of this winery are really nice and very helpful. The wine that they produce is a good quality wine as well. Stop by and see them and enjoy their products.
Who would have thought you would find a small family owned vineyard here. Come wine tasting and you might find something a bit unusual or special like blackberry wine in addition to the conventional grape varieties.
It takes a lot to produce great wine; they aren't there yet.
Tastings allowed and owners have won awards with several of their wines. I enjoy purchasing several inexpensive bottles and gifting them to friends when we visit other areas of the country.
While you can pick up bottles of their reasonably-priced wine in local package stores, it's an quick side trip from I-81 and worth going to meet the owners. Best bets: the Chambourcin and the American Muscadine (from our only native grape).
Wine wasn't great, but maybe better since my visit. Worth a try if you're in the area
