Horseback riding at Elk Point is always a highlight of our trip. The horses are always so well taken care of, and are very gentle and easy to ride. Lark and JR take extra care to hire the best horse wranglers and guides.

Set up a two hour ride for my 11 year-old weeks ago, not realizing that when I got to nearby cabins where we were staying I was advised not to reveal where we were staying as there was quite a feud over road access issues. Had my first change in plans for my son's ride about a week before the ride. The day before the two-hour ride at 8:30 got a cell call which my wife picked up and ride again changed to one hour and told to be there at 9:00 for a one hour ride and told this will be the only ride on July 4 morning. So, took my son up at 8:45, walked in, and the woman at the desk seemed to know who we must be and said, "told you to be here at 8:30, ride left at 8:30." "We can put you in for the ride at 11." No thanks today, nor ever.

We rode two days. On the first day we took the short 1 hour ride, and the second day a 2 hour ride. It was a great family experience. The guides were experienced, friendly and professional. Even though the trails were getting slick from the rain, the horses were sure footed and we had a great experience. The horses always felt safe and the guides made the experience one to remember a lifetime.

Took grandkids for a pony ride--staff was helpful and made sure that we had a safe and good time. Bandit (the horse) was patient.

My daughter and I love to go horseback riding at Elk Point Lodge. The trails go through the forest and by Vallecito Lake and are peaceful and absolutely gorgeous. The wranglers at Elk Point (Pete and Beth) are wonderful and we enjoy spending time with them. Horseback riding at Elk Point Lodge is always the highlight of our summer vacation in Colorado.

It was a nice 30-45 min ride with friendly guides. The horses were on auto-pilot so you don't have to know how to ride. Some of the trails were steep but no where close to being unsafe or adventure filled.

We had the best time horseback riding at Elk Point Lodge. The horses were so sweet and were so gentle with our young children. I highly recommend coming here for horseback riding and cabin rentals also.

Is there anything better than horseback riding in one of the most beautiful settings?

We had a group of six (3 moms, 3 kids 11 years old) who enjoyed a beautiful and relaxing morning horseback trip up the mountain and alongside the lake. The horses were well groomed and behaved. The trail bosses were attentive and friendly. And the mule deer were cooperative, standing still for photo ops along the trail!. Afterwards the husbands joined us for a delicious and huge pancake, eggs, etc. breakfast lakeside. We didn't stay at the lodge but recommend the Elk Point Lodge based on our wonderful experience with the horseback ride.
