I visited the Fiske for an 8 yr old boys birthday party, they preformed a show and let the kids ask questions. Very well done. I did notice the younger kids seemed to get a little scared once the lights went out. I've heard great things about the music related shows they do here-maybe one day I'll catch one.

This was a total bore. 20 minutes about stars and then an insanely senseless laser show. Uncomfortable seating with no recline is the deal breaker.

Recently at Fiske planetarium I heard about the astronomical computer constructed by the ancient (100 BC) Greeks. It was found about 200' under water near the island of Antikythera. On the Fiske planetarium screen they showed how this ancient mechanism could predict solar & lunar eclipses, positions of the planets, and all with great accuracy.A week later, they showed the exploits of the wonderful European satellite, Rosetta, and how it would launch a lander onto a comet (which they did, a week later!). This is the best planetarium in the world, bar none.

state of the art projection equipment makes attending a presentation here very worthwhile -- do not miss the chance to attend if you are visiting the UC Boulder campus

The planetarium is really amazing, and the student giving the narration before the recorded part of the experience began was great. The IMAX screen was huge and had really good resolution. One of the best parts of the night was the viewing on the roof next door that followed the show. There were 3 telescopes set up and students helped us to look at several stars and were very knowledgeable when answering our questions. The exhibits outside the entrance to the IMAX could use an update. That was my only less-than-super observation. Otherwise, a really great experience overall, and a place I'll return to.

Now that it's the most technologically advanced planetarium in the world and it's in IMAX format. Take a date, go with your family & friends and look up to see what's going on in our galaxy and beyond. Cool laser shows too.

I love to visit planetaria and the high resolution projection system at Fiske lured me on a recent trip to Boulder. There are some interesting exhibits while you wait although overall, it is a smaller scale planetarium. It appears to be staffed by students and two graduate level students ran the show including the narration during the film. They showed the film "Dynamic Earth" which is OK, not exceptional and definitely not new. The message about "climate change" is worth hearing and the film gives very clear explanations of how climate change is affecting the planet. The graduate student who narrated the show was very knowledgeable and warm. We very much enjoyed our visit overall, even if we would have preferred to see "Black Holes." There's easy parking in front of the building.

We visited during an orientation day at the University. Just a great educational experience! The quality of the projection was incredible.

we saw a show about "the incan sky". was a fun attraction, nice way to pass a couple of hours in the evening. walk around the campus while you're there; boulder is beautiful. if you like science, you'll like this.

We stumbled upon this place while walking around the U of CO campus... And we ended up spending around 45 mins to an hour here, looking at the interactive learning exhibits. At night I think they have late-night laser shows featuring famous bands/performers. According to their website, "Fiske shows consist of a combination of preprogrammed portions and a live performance. The duration of shows are about one hour." Next time we'll make sure to come at night to see a show. Overall, a really neat place to walk around, even with kids. And it's free. :)

One of the top three projection systems in the world! Saw the space center up close and personal-- ask the projectionist to play the clip. Ages 7 to 65 all enjoyed.

A recent visit to the upgraded Fisk Planetarium was very, very enjoyable and impressive. They say it is only one of a very few planetariums in the country to have a new projector system. The show we saw was top notch. Highly recommended!

One of the best planetariums in the US!! Great spot for kids and adults. Has a lot of programs presented by faculty members with light and laser shows.

I'm an astronomy nut and I've been a fan of Fiske since I took a class there about the astronomies of ancient and indigenous cultures as a student which met at Fiske once a week. I was always impressed with what they managed to do with basic technology such as slide projectors and optical effects (such as a spinning piece of plastic with paint and a light shining through that made it look like a galaxy was floating in the room) combined with video projectors and a real star projector (Denver doesn't have one--they just show digital stars, which are pretty, but not as realistic; Fiske's new system does both). My sister, who is not very into astronomy, and I saw a show about the planets at Denver that was boring (it was pretty but just spouted basic, boring facts about their sizes and temperature) and short, considering what we paid. Some time later we took our cousins and their kids who were visiting from Florida to a kids' space show at Fiske that kind of reminded me of "The Magic School Bus" solar system book I read as a kid. Not only did they love it, but my sister told me she found it much more enjoyable and felt she learned more from that kids' show than the Denver planetary one we had seen. I thought that was pretty cool since she "hates space, it's scary." The new shows and technology are stunning, sometimes it feels like you are moving. Even though they are doing a lot if shows Denver does for the time being, they include a star talk so you pay for an hour show as opposed to a 20 minute show. I was told Fiske will soon be bringing their own productions back once they adapt them to the new technology. They had some really good ones about topics like satellites, Hubble Telescope, astronomies of other cultures, "Max Goes To The Moon," supernovas, black holes, and the Milky Way (City of Stars--a favorite) to name a few. The professor talks are great. Sometimes in the past they had technical difficulties, but I think that was due to so much technology (there must have been 100 projectors plus video projectors plus the star projector plus a laser system...). I hope they also bring back the baby dinosaur show (Maia), my niece loved it! She made me bring her to it several times before Fiske stopped offering it.
