Awesome hikes even for an experienced hiker like myself! Went in the summer and it was perfect! It gets chilly the higher you go up so def bring a long sleeve to layer on when you get to the higher areas. It was my first "real" hike and i really enjoyed it. The view from the top is incredible and so relaxing!

Love this place and try to hike at least once or twice a week! You really can't get a better view of Colorado..it feels like you are whisked away to Europe!!! And you're getting exercise at the same time!!! Afterwards, head over to The Rio for margarita's!!! Ha

The Flatirons are one of my favorite things in Boulder there huge mass towing over you like a giant ironing board they were Created at the bottom of an ocean 290 million yeas ago and were raised up 30-80 million yeas ago by the growing mountains. I love hiking around them climbing them and just gazing at them. They are the first thing you see as you roll in on HWY 36 from Denver. I always have a great feeling of home every time I observe there majestic stature.

Heavy snow 2days ago and much more fun and beautiful. If u stay in Colorado, you should go for fun. You will like it if you don't expect great U.S National park. Small but exciting. 3-5hrs. Enjoy trip!

The Boulder Flatirons are a Must SEE! They are truly beautiful in any season! You can just stop and take photos or do a hike! All Ages will enjoy this stop and if you have time plan a picnic in the park adjacent to the Flatirons! There is a Ranger station where you can stop and get information, plus see a pleflora of Colorado animals... thanks to taxidermy...

Visited the area New Year's Day. Lot of sledder's on the hills. Beautiful scenery in the winter. A must see hike around the area. Take Flagstaff road to the top while you're here as well and look out over Boulder.

I went in Jan. 2015 and it was beautiful. It was about dusk and a little cloudy but still beautiful. There were a few people bundled up walking up the trails in the snow. Afterwards, we went to the Pearl street mall and the Christmas lights were so beautiful. In the winter, plan to stay an hour or so on a cold day. In the summer, there are lots of trails that you could spend hours walking around.

This feature is a perfect backdrop to Boulder. Jump in the car and head up beyond it to the log cabin town of Gold Hill. Take Sunshine Canyon up to it and enjoy dramatic views of the other side of the Flatirons. I paved road as you get higher. On the return, take Boulder Canyon, stop for the water fall and the rock climbers. Avoid Left Hand Canyon return as not as dramatic and road can be icy due to shade from canyon walls.

Flatirons is what you see when you go to Boulder. This landmark will situate yourself where ever you go ...it is like the north star. There are hiking trails to Flatiron for an up close experience. They range from easy to difficult. Remember that you can see them where ever you are in Boulder.

The trails along the Flatirons are very accessible from Boulder. You could be on a trail in about 15 minutes from anywhere in Boulder. The trails range from easy to difficult. You could spend an hour or a full day exploring the trails. Once on the trails you are surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery leaving the city sounds behind. The longer hikes to Green mountain, Bear peak and South Boulder peak give great views of the city and eastern plains. It's also possible to hike all 12 months of the year. Parking fees may apply for cars not registered in Boulder County.

What can I say that already hasnt been written. This is a must see while in the area. Many trails with friendly people abound on this holiday weekend. We drove up and it was a treacherous drive over winding roads that were clear of snow but bustling with bikers, trudging to the summit! The thought of them descending down hill just made my palms sweat. The mountains are what make this state so beautiful. The wind was gently blowing, be prepared, dont let the sun trick you into thinking you wont need proper attire... sunglasses, hat, coat, boots and water!!!

I've been told that once you live under the shadows of the Flatirons you will never be happy anywhere else. I don't know if that's true but if you are in the Boulder Area I would recommend taking a hike up and around the Flatirons.

Been in Boulder for more than 40 years and still don't tire of seeing the Flatirons every day in all kinds of weather and with different lighting. Just as inspiring when covered with winter snow as they are when wreathed in Spring greenery. They are surrounded by City of Boulder Open Space so there are hundreds of miles of hiking trails nearby, from leisure walks to challenging hikes. If you are nearby in the Colorado Front Range, a visit to Chatauqua Park and a walk near the Flatirons should be on your travel agenda.

Not too hard but slippery spots after a snow a week earlier. Well worth the trudge. There are spots where the trail was hard to keep track of, but other people out there made it easier.

Did the 1st & 2nd flatiron hike....all up hill on the way out. About 1100 feet in 1.6 miles. The downhill though has quite sturdy footing - no worries. 1.5 hours up and just an hour down. Didn't go 'all the way up' as described in hike desc, but went 1.6 miles up, and the round-trip distances in the write-ups say 2.4 or 3.0. strange. Great views. LOTS of people (like hikes in Yosemite). Lots of people doing the hike in flip flops (crazy people!)
