we came in just for the demonstration, but loved it so much we ended up buying three things afterward. The guy knows how to explain it perfectly for both adults and kids. Even my hyperactive son was enthralled.
Great demonstrations of blown-glass techniques. Beautiful products available to purchase. Definitely a must-see when you are in Estes Park!
As blown-glass enthusiasts, my wife and I really enjoyed watching Cory work. There is nothing like beaing close enough to the artest to feel the heat of the kiln. Cory gave us great explanations of his techniques, and he clearly takes great pride in his work. We ended up purchasing the piece he was working on (of course, it takes a while to cool... they will ship work to you). Stop by and see them!
It was great to see how there products our made. The gentlemen doing the glass blowing was full of knowledge about his craft and was great at explaining to the folks watching. Even had a special one made to bring back home. Will be back.
You can watch the beginning stages of a piece of glass being blown in a short time as the owner explains step by step what he is doing. You can then look at a small shop with pieces to buy--some stunning. Very friendly owner. Very reasonable prices.
We were so excited that this shop was open. The other glass-blowing shop was closed the entire four days we were there. We watched the owner make a candy dish that we came back the next day and bought. Then we asked his son to make us tumblers which he did the next day then opened early before we left town so we could pick them up. It was the highlight of our trip.
We visit MBG every year when we make our trip home to Estes and my children BEG to go watch the "glass guy". I love the store and have many of their pieces in my home. Dave, Cory and Marty are all very talented glass blowers and you will love every second you spend in the store. Make sure you stick around and watch them make something it is truly amazing!!
My husband and I visited the shop today and watched the demonstration and it was fascinating! What a talented man and he was great at explaining each step of the process. Beautiful, reasonable priced pieces in the store and a very kind and interesting couple. Do go in on your visit, you won't be disappointed.PS We left with several pieces ourselves.
We arrived just as the craftsman was starting on a piece. A free, fascinating demonstration that took 45 minutes as we watched a blob of molten glass become a beautiful vase. If you get there at the right time, you get a seat to sit and watch as the glass blower works inside a screened workroom just 3 feet away. We had a blast. By the time he finished, a crowd of about 30 had gathered to watch the fun! Check this place out!
Awesome. The man who made the glass knew what he was doing, was very professional about it and made it look so easy to do. Which, of course it isn't. There was a round of applause at the end of the demonstration. I ended up buying some candy dishes. I will definitely go back there again to watch and buy.
We really liked this little store. They have daily demonstrations for glass blowing and the artist does a really great job of describing what he is doing and why, while working with the glass piece. They have a wide variety to choose from and their prices didn't seem too high.
We stopped in here on a recommendation of the couple staying at our B&B. Glad we did - Dave was doing demonstrations that day, throughly enjoyed watching him and hearing him explain the process. We walked around the store and picked out a little oil lamp (what he was actually making earlier) to commemorate our 30th wedding anniversary. Fun place to watch them work and then buy a little something to remember!
we found some beautiful gifts, and the lady working was extremely friendly and helpful. We loved opening our gifts and getting excited to see them again!
