This is a new find for me and I have been a couple times in the last month. It was clean, comfortable and drinks reasonable. Reastrooms are clean. The manager come and introduced himself and was very pleasant and uplifting.
The theater has two shows running at once, one in a larger auditorium, and one in a small (60 person or so) theater to the side. Most shows are around $20. Before and after performances they have a bar in the lobby where you can get coffee, tea, snacks and liquor. Prices are very reasonable. If they had any sense, they would have snacks, water and sodas in a help yourself table setting with a jar for the $1 payment, as the bartender gets busy and it can be a long wait to buy one bottle of water. But you come here for the shows. The productions are amazing, not budget community theater by any means. This season I have seen Streetcar Named Desire (best version of this show ever!), Harold and Maude, which I plan to see again before it closes, and I Do, I Do. All were fantastic.
Live theater at its best, where every seat is excellent and you can actually see the expressions on the actors’ faces. The two intimate theaters that comprise the Vintage provide outstanding opportunities to see a range of productions from dramas to musical, small casts to complex choreography in big dance numbers on a packed stage. Wonderful opportunity to see talented actors up close and personal. Saw Lobby Hero in the smaller of the two, and Mack and Mabel in the larger theater. Both were excellent. Bar pours a generous glass of wine, which can be taken into the theater.
The actors gave extraordinary performances and the set was amazing. This was my second attendance at this small venue. I enjoyed both plays as the acting was superb.
The theater showcases wonderful theater shows. They are edgy, exploratory and provocative in material.
A friend and I saw The Lyons at the Vintage Theatre. It was my first time there, and it was amazing. I felt I was on Broadway, the acting was so impressive. Before the show one can purchase a variety of appetizers, salads, dinners, desserts and drinks in the lobby. Two separate productions were going on, Lend Me A Tenor at the larger theatre, and The Lyons at the smaller theatre, seating perhaps 60 people in three long rows. View from every seat was perfect. We should all support the excellent work of this small theatre, tucked away in Aurora. The list of future productions is amazing. This was my first visit but definitely won't be my last.
This is a great play. Enjoyed the cast and the theatre. A very nice venue for a small theatre. There is free parking adjacent to the theatre.
It's true what other reviewers say that the theatre is small, but the quality of production and intimacy of the house makes for a spectacular show. My family, friends and I saw "Young Frankenstein" by Mel Brooks and were thoroughly entertained and very impressed with the caliber of professionalism of the cast and crew. The theatre has ample parking and a fabulous bar/lounge to enjoy before, during and after. An added bonus, you can take your drinks in with you!
I've been to see two productions at this theater in the last 3 months and was very pleased. The first was The Best Little ******house in Texas followed by And then there was Nun. Very comfortable seating, cocktails available at intermission, good location and near a few restaurants for dinner before the show. If another production I found interesting was playing there, I would return without hesitation.
Vintage Theater has been on the scene for a few years and has added to the culture venues in Aurora. We have seen 2 plays there--"The Joy Luck Club" and "And Then There was Nun" both of which were very well done. It is so nice not to have to go downtown to Denver to see performances. The parking is free, too! We spent New Years Eve there and saw a delightful performance after which there were drinks and hors d'oeuvres.
OK so this week I saw Avenue Q when it toured to Dever and I also saw A Streetcar Named Desire at the Vintage Theatre Downtown on 17th. I was really amazed that I liked Streetcar better. Now I love Avenue Q (I saw it on Broadway years ago) but the touring production lacked something- the tickets were very expensive and there were at least 2000 people in the audience with me. So it didn't feel close or intimate and the soud was bad. BUT when I went to Vintage the quality of the performances was stunning and it was only $22.00. And I could see and hear perfectly. More importantly there was just some magic to the whole live theatre experience and it was a great story.SO I reccomend checking out this small Theatre. If I had bought advanced tickets the whole thing would have cost me little more than a first run movie. And you get to see original stuff- no car chases and that special somethng that happens when it is live.I am definately going to check out their next production. It is called Murderers I wonder who gets done in?.....Val
