I bought some merchandise at the gift shop and needed to return before we left town. I knew I would be arriving at close to but before their closing time so I called ahead to let them know I was coming. The lady who answered told me that there would be no one there to help me even though I would be arriving a couple minutes before their posted closing time of 6 pm and regardless of my situation (needing to return merchandise before leaving town). She was extremely rude on the phone despite my best efforts to be polite. When I arrived at 5:58 pm the gift shop was locked and dark. If you have a posted closing time of 6 pm, then you should close at 6 pm and not what appears to have been at least 5 minutes before. For the amount of money we spent there on merchandise, the least they could do is stay open until their closing time and be polite to their customers! Shameful service and overpriced merchandise. Needless to say, we won't be back!

Lots of 10th Mountain history. A great way to learn about all that happened at Camp Hale and the surrounding areas. Great displays of early skiing in the area.

When in Vail Village take the time to go see the Colorado Ski Museum. The old Olympic ski suits are so cool. The old skis and snowboards are too. And the history about the Army's 10th Division and how they helped win the war on skis is so interesting. The little gift shop is nice too.

Educational. Interesting. Took whole family. Inexpensive, because all they ask for is a donation; suggested $2.00 per person. Quite reasonable. Will go back again.

Great museum! Worth the time to stop in. It shows the history of skiing and the 10th Mountain Division's impact on skiing and the area.

This free museum is so interesting that I went twice. There are displays of the evolution of skis and snowboards, ski boots, bindings, chair lifts. Catch the film clips of the 10th Mountain Division WW2 soldiers, and also of classic skiers. Good gift shop. The museum is located on the lower level of the Vail transportation center.

If you are in Vail you should give it a try. It is very nice the see the old ski equipment and some toys you can see there. There are also some nice pictures.

What a wonderful place. You can watch a 30 minute video of the 10th Mountain Division. An all volunteer group who trained in the cold and snow during WW11. The troop was called into WW11 in early 1945 and sent to Italy to fight. Some of the original members are still alive today! What an incredible story of love of mountain and the heroes who fought during the war in the most cold and harsh enviroment. Check it out. Worth taking the time. They also have a very nice gift shop with all things Vail at reasonable prices. Enjoyed it!

Vail has been around for a long time in the ski industry, and the Colorado Ski Museum/Ski Hall of Fame is worth a visit by skiers to get a picture of where their sport came from. While the CSM-SHF is conveniently located in the Vail Transportation Center (VTC), it is also unfortunately located in the VTC, which limits its size and visibility. If you're a skier or even a boarder, stop in for a few minutes, I doubt you'll be disappointed!

I mostly went in to get warm, but it was fascinating, hard to believe how far skiing has come in such a short time and gives you a real insight in to the town of Vail. One looks at Vail and skiing differently after having visited it. Well worth it, old and young alike wiil enjoy it.

The museum is just by the Vail village car park, as you exit on way to slopes. This is a great find. It's fairly small, but very informative. Visited in fall; between summer and winter season. Open from 10am; free, but suggested donation of $2. The museum showed history of skiing, snowboard and US Winter Olympics.Plenty of interesting gifts at the gift shop as well. I was very impressed.

This was a great place to stop and check out some great history. The museum talks about the 10th Division. It was great to see the snowboard evolution and the winter Olympic from 1920 to present.

Being from Colorado Springs and the connection with the Olympic Training center and the USOC this was a real treat to see the museum. The old lifts and snowboard displays plays were my favorite.

I went to see the "wing" about the 10th mountain division and it was small and well done. The rest of the history of skiing was informative. Good way to spend an hour on a rainy afternoon.
