This farm-stand started out as just a little shed at the road side. Now there are five main barns with plants, seedlings, fruits and veggies. They let the kids see the pigs and turkeys. I always stopped to get fruits and vegetables for the family. If there ever was rotten fruit or produce in my purchase they would take it back and replace it with good ones. They took special orders when I wanted to store potatoes or carrots for the winter. You are encouraged to try the fruits before you buy them. Bags and boxes are carried to your car for you.
The best farm stand you can stop at. If it grows... they have it. We visit every year and get our fall mums and pumpkins. Their bulk tomatoes make the best sauce. Then when you check out, the cash register calls out the prices. His dad was terrific and he's just as good. I saved the best for last... the loooooooooow prices. Hurry, they close October 29th.
We drove by this fruit and vegetable stand the night before we stopped there because it looked great. We were not disappointed, in fact were knocked out and ended up filling our car with 6 glorious mum plants at unbelievably low prices, Cortland apples, pumpkins, veggie and other delectables. And then we drove all the way back to Iowa looking like a mobile florist or fruit vendor. Great place - worth a stop!!!
Frog pond is a local treasure...large variety of fresh fruits & vegetables, local honey, flowers/plants, roasted peanuts, pickles, meats, cheeses...you name it, they have it. The food is fresh and very reasonable priced. Great place to shop all summer long. (open until Halloween)...definitely a must place to stop...you'll be back again for sure. While there, you're allowed to try any of the fresh produce free of charge.
We have been going here for many years. We even have decided to not grow a garden and buy what we need at Frog Pond. It is especially good when all the local vegetables come into season. A weekly visit is a must and now we take our grandchildren to visit the animals and play in the corn. Don't forget the fresh eggs from the chickens that live there.
Worth The drive to get your Fresh Fruits, Vegetables, Plants, flowers, and more. (Eggs, Pepperoni, Cheese, and even BIG pickles).. Fruit and veggie samples offered as well. Certain times of the year; Chicks, rabbits, ducks, and turkeys. Enjoy just watching them Accurately add up your total WITHOUT the use of a Calculator, Cash machine, or a Computer. Listen to them rattle off the prices without error. Great family business. Keep in mind they put a lot of time and effort so they do take a Vacation around the 4th of July so be sure they are open before going.. I had heard about the FROGPOND many times, but when people raved about it, I thought to myself "well, its JUST a farmstand". Several years ago, on an outing with friends, we stopped and I fell in love with the place, and have been there a few times a year ever since. Its an hours drive from where I live, so I can't go more often. The large variety of fruits and vegetables and other items offered AND the low prices are what draw me there. Not to mention, the proprietor who does the math in his head and out loud at the cash register! Unfortunately, I am moving to another part of NYS in a few days and may never go here again. I doubt if I will ever find another place like the FROGPOND!
I took the WHOLE family to Frog Pond on Mother's Day in search of some good family fun and fair prices on wholesome, local, organic produce and livestock. While we did have fun (my kids really enjoyed petting the goats and playing in the corn box), we were disappointed to find that almost all the produce and other grocery items are shipped in (many from other countries) and not organically grown. To be fair, most prices were lower than the typical grocery stores and there was a very large selection of beautiful seedlings (including some organic) in the greenhouse. Another disappointment was to find that they don't breed their own turkeys to sell and their stock of mail-order turkey chicks were all sold out. Probably most disappointing though was the attitude of the staff. We could not find one helpful staff member who was happy, kind and willing to answer questions.
For a highway farm stand frog pond is the best. Fresh seasonal produce and helpful service it's a place you can easily find something you like. You'll be mesmerized by the checkout process. Make it a destination even if its for a fresh summer peach.
