the nautical mile really is filled with overpriced restaurants and under rated food. They have a couple of cool shops and its nice to just take a walk down on a nice summer day, maybe ok for a few drinks and hear a band, but you can get much better food other places.

The nautical mile isn't really what it used to be. As a kid going here, there were many more restaurants and more old fashioned charm. Today there are mainly new places that seem to change each summer. It's a hot spot in the summer, but honesty I rarely go.

Good seafood with quite a few places to choose from, from more upscale dining to very casual. A decent nightlife with live bands; and a nice walk from end to end on a warm day or night.

If your thing is walking along a seaport town on a nice Sunny afternoon, plan a visit to Freeport nautical mile. Great places to eat, both inside and outside, plenty of places to stop and grab a drink. Small shops and seafood shops. Go and enjoy. Free parking.

Ok to be fair, I went in September as a business traveler mid-week.Weather was still summerish, yet the mile was dead.Resturants (the few still open and not boarded up) had a few locals in them who weren't shy about noticing your presence.EB's however was open and had pretty good food. If I'm back in the summer, I'd be willing to give it another shot.

Clean full of a variety of restaurants, fishing boats, and gift shops . The million dollar mile is great visually and the inlet is charming.

I went to the Nautical Mile after work. We had drinks and dinner and. The outside was beautiful and the drinks were great. Love to go there during the summer.

This was the first time that I went to the Nautical Mile. I went there as I was looking for a place that I'd never been to go to with my Mom and I came across Freeport as one of those "10 best" in "New York Time Out"."New York Time Out" has used the word "bucolic". But it turns out that this place is probably only "bucolic" relative to (say) Manhattan The northern end of this "Nautical Mile" peninsula is probably more lively than the southern end. It's a mile of nice walk but it's probably passed its peak. Port Jefferson (in Suffolk County) may have more people than the Nautical Mile. I could easily notice "Lease" and "Rent" for those unoccupied/abandoned houses along both sides of the street. I had a (unjustified) feeling that maybe most of those customers in the restaurants and bars were locals rather than tourists. At the end, I drove to the other side of the river on Guy Lombardo Ave. At its southern end, there is a marina which is kind of private but I drove in anyway. It's way more scenic than the southern end of the Nautical mile (Woodcleft Ave.). I didn't stay long (partly because I was not sure whether I might got a ticket or something). One needs to pay for parking in the parking lots on the "Nautical Mile" (Woodclef Ave.) but one may park freely one block west in S. Ocean Ave.

Very expensive, but terrific seafood. The nautical mile has great shops with terrific deals and lovely trinkets. Food and drink is very expensive.

A few of my girlfriends and I ranging in age from mid 30's - mid 40's decided to have a ladies night out at Freeport's Nautical Mile and it was a great decision. Plenty of restaurants to chose from, parking is scarce on the main but plentiful on the residential streets, music was good/loud, drinks were delicious and worth the price $8.50 for Pina Coladas, over all it was a wonderful time and I would go there again. We then headed for a quiet dinner at the very posh Riverside restaurant.

Plenty of restaurants and live music entertainment. Be selective when choosing a restaurant. High prices don't mean good food. Most serve seafood. Parking can be a problem. Most restaurants on the canal. Try and get a table outside water side. Nice ambience.

Great place to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Grab lunch, dinner or just a drink. Also has a mini golf course.

We ate at EB Elliotts for dinner and the food was excellent. The acoustics in the upstairs dining room were loud when we arrived due to a party, but calmed down when they left. The bill was not cheap as expected, but the service is average at best, with a waitress who seemed rather disinterested and not very attentive. We will try one of the many other restaurants on the strip like Hudsons or Rachels before going back.

There are many great places to eat here. It's not the Hamptons but it is a good substitute for the peons.

I have lived in the area for many years! "The mile" has gone from real deal seafood restraunts to a bikers spot to know a dump! Crowd is lacking serious morals and values. I guess all the restraunts if that's what they are wanting to be called are capitalizing on serving alcohol to kids and gouging the hell out of everyone for a plate of food that they bought frozen from restraunt depot! Where did the Freeport police go? Hiding!!!???? I sat at Ralph's ices and watched the crowd and for the first time I relized I need to not take my kids there anymore! Real trash scene and no values or morals! It's the bottom of the barrel and lacks serious dignity. Not for families anymore! Real shame
