Beautiful very short walk to the waterfall. So worth the trip to sit and picnic. Or just watch the water fall
A short wall and your at this huge waterfall. The best part is it is free and you can go as close as you want. I can't imagine what it would look like after a heavy rain or snow melting. You can see evidence of the amount of force it must have. Well worth the stop if nearby.
Myself and my family are NOT hikers. I believe this would be an excellent experience for non-hikers, too easy for real hikers. We saw the falls from the road, and went back to see if we could walk into them. Nice break, a little difficult to actually get into an angle where you can see the falls. We did not have time to walk to the top, which would be a little more difficult and probably a cooler viewA nice break in the day
Loved the short but challenging walk up to the falls. Great end to our day out. If you are more energetic you can climb to the top of the falls.
This is not an attraction you pay for. It is on New York State land and free to access. To the bottom of the falls is a short walk from the parking area just a mile south of Keene Valley on Route 73. It is a pretty spot to stop and stretch your legs or take a sack lunch. The trail to the top of the falls is less than 1/2 mile but is very steep, like most area trails. There is a first-come first-serve campsite at the base of the falls, open to anyone as long as you abide by the land regulations posted near the parking area.
even at very low water flow in mid july 2012 looks very nice. would be spectacular with normal water conditions
