This is a rodeo in the finest American tradition. Before the actual rodeo there is a chicken and ribs barbecue that is delicious and reasonable (price is also reasonable). The rodeo is a championship rated event. It starts with a parade and the national anthem. It is a night of fun and thrills for the whole family. Bring something soft to sit on as the benches are hard and the night is long. Parking and dinner are separate fees but the night is reasonable.

For those who've never been to a rodeo the Painted Pony provides a good evening of fun for the family with several events. Barrel Racing, Steer Wrestling, Calf Roping, Bull Riding and the entertainment from the clown. We did not eat while there but several people said the BBQ was good.

This was my first visit to this rodeo. It was good. I have been to other rodeos in the past, and this one can come close to competing. I will definitely go back next summer if the opportunity presents itself.

We have been to the painted pony public rides every day of our last two vacations to the Lake George area. They have about two dozen horses and one pony.My two and four year old kids love that little miniature horse 'Maple'. They even had helmets for the kids safety during riding. The corral is a good size, heavily shaded by old-growth Adirondack trees. There is a BBQ in the evening, so Hickory smoke is always pleasantly in the air. It just is really a great location. The staff is very friendly. One guy there, Michael, had endless amounts of patience with my 4-year-old who wanted to know the name of each horse, the family history, the feeding habits (you name it). Each question was praised for its insight and answered. What a wonderful way to interact with kids and pique my daughter's interest in horses! We will definitely be back to this spot on our next visit! My daughter can't wait until she turns 7 and is old enough to do the trail rides.

Great experience and great fun at the rodeo. Never went to one before, but this truly exceeded my expectations. Only a short 6 mile drive from Lake George, where we were camping, it was a really fun experience. BBQ all you can eat dinner was great, with the chicken and ribs smoked right on premises. A great bargain for only $26 p/p, including the BBQ. Nice onsite bar with live band and line dancing afterwards.

I really wasn't sure what to expect at the Painted Pony Rodeo but I was impressed. We traveled a couple of hours to see the show so we decided to stay at a place close to the Rodeo. What I wasn't expecting was the rural roads that we traveled. It made me think of upstate New York. Small towns, pine trees and 2 lane roads. I think that Lake Luzerne is in the Adirondack Park so this is why. The rodeo was a blast! It may not be for everybody but the families I saw there were having a great time. We enjoyed the 3 hour show. I think we had a little more of a show because their were both rodeo associations involved. The clown was funny...most of the time! The show and show people were amazing doing their thing. We did not opt to have the buffet but it did look and smell terrific! I would not hesitate to go again!!!

I was part of a group who visited the Painted Pony Rodeo last weekend. This is the oldest weekly rodeo in the United States and it's one of the remnants of what was once fifty or so dude ranches and cowboy related venues in this area. There are only a few remaining. We started our rodeo experience with a Texas pit barbecue buffet that included succulent pork ribs, barbecued chicken, hot apple sauce, very good Cole slaw, baked beans, watermelon and cookies. Iced tea, lemonade, and water were included. The all-you-can eat buffet was no frills, but tasty and well-prepared and service was friendly and down-home helpful. Everybody ate outside under the cover of a pavilion at picnic tables. The rodeo started at 8PM as it does every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday during the summer months. We got there early and got front row seats in the grandstand (again, nothing fancy - simple bleacher seats). The show was entertaining with some good riding, roping, and bull riding at the end. The show is family friendly and the audience was almost as fun as the cowboys and cowgirls. Many in full western drag complete with cowboy hats, boots, and belt buckles the size of saucers. It's another world and well worth checking out. We had a wonderful time.

This is off the main road in a small treed Glenn-so charming. The horse whisperer is Mr. Michael and he is so kind to answer and explain all things PONY. All kids wear helmets- each horse we saw was well cared for and gentle. There is a campfire that smells great that mixes with smell of the Texas BBQ that is offered on trail rides. Our toddler had been to other pony rides but thought this one was best.

We have been wanting to go to a Rodeo and never had a chance and saw a sign while visiting Lake George that the Rodeo was in the next town that evening. We went and while we found it enjoyable it was very uncomfortabe to sit in the seating area. It was stadium seating and very dusty and the boards became shaky as we tried to walk on them to find a seat. We are glad we went but will probably never go again. The bathrooms were porta-potties and while it was interesting it wasn't enough to keep us there so we left at intermission.

For the low price of admission, the whole family can enjoy a fun evening of entertainment. It's really a privilege to watch dozens of skilled and talented people put on a show where everyone has a great view of the action. We would definitely go back again.

This rodeo is held every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night. We went on a Wednesday night and opted for the BBQ and Rodeo ticket. The (6PM to 8PM) BBQ was good, consisting of ribs, chicken, corn, beans, apples, cole slaw, salad, watermelon, hot dogs and cookies in an all-you-can-eat-buffet. The dinner was held in a saloon across from the rodeo's venue. After your meal, you head across the parking lot to the rodeo's venue. Everyone sits in stadium-like bleacher seating. Unfortunately, everyone must climb over these bleachers to get a seat (first come, first served). The rodeo was excellent showing racing, bull riding and lassoing. There is a 15 minute intermission in between sets. After the show, on Friday and Saturday nights, everyone heads back to the saloon for country line dancing. The after party is family friendly as well. At the party, everyone can talk to the cowboys and cowgirls, take pictures and sign autographs.I would highly recommend!!

Rodeo is very entertaining and at 2 hours long, just right to keep your interest. Bull riding at the end is the best part. Barbeque is barely edible. Hot dogs are too salty, ribs are boiled and tasteless, and chicken tastes.....odd.

I have been here with my kids and again with older friends. It is a slice of Americana- very patriotic and I never fail to be impressed by the cowboys. There are places to get food and also a bar on site (which is made up to look more like a Cowboy Saloon) and you can also come early for a barbecue dinner. The Rodeo is held three days a week and starts at 8pm- the barbecue dinner runs from 6-8. The Rodeo lasts a solid two hours and the skill of the cowboys and girls is very impressive. The announcer is wonderful- he has the perfect voice and patter and really keeps things moving and the crowd involved.*Tip: There are discount coupons available in most of the coupon/attraction books and sometimes they have deals on Living Social.

This is a professional Rodeo event. The facilities include a Country Dance Bar, covered BBQ dinner area, covered Rodeo grandstand and concession areas. Only 5 miles from Lake George, NY and easily found with our GPS device and road signs. My wife and I both had a great time watching the Rodeo. The only fault is, while the grandstand bleachers have solid handrails, elderly or disabled may be limited to to the seating at the very top of the grandstand. Not a big problem as it is ample and comfortable.
