This is a lovely park, nice and quiet. A great place to enjoy the outdoors on a nice sunny day. They have a nice lake and plenty of places to walk.
It's a perfect place to go during the summer for a picnic. The flowers are gorgeous and they also hold activities there fun for both kids and adults. :)
The Orange County Arboretum , located in Thomas Bull Park, offers a wonderful way to walk off the travelers doldrums after a long road trip. We found the walkways well maintained and the surrounding environment beautiful. Don't be put off by the gate being closed. It will open if you pull your car up to it (providing you read the sign and have arrived within their hours of operation).
There are plenty of things to do here no matter what the season. Check out the lights at christmas time. My Dog loves this place. They even have a little space during the winter for ice skating. There is even a hockey goal at the ice spot. I love to bring my stick and pretend that I'm a hockey player.
There is plenty to do for a day, golf, tennis, paddle boats, dog park, walking, the beautiful arboretum, softball fields, rest rooms and more. There is a food venue at the top of the hill, this also can be rented for parties. There are seasonal activities all year long. There are also picnic areas that can be rented for groups of people.
A golf course, tennis courts, an arboretum, a fishing lake, paddle boats, exercise trail, a dog park, a sledding hill - a great walking hill, softball fields, picnic pavillons, restrooms, childrens' playgrounds and a golf club building that can be rented for weddings, a horse ring and trails - what more can you ask for to find a beautiful spot that affords vistas that zoom out over to the Shawangunks in the distance.
This park has many year round activities such as picnic grounds and shelters, a dog park, playgrounds, volleyball courts, etc. This past week we enjoyed the snow tubing section of the park. It was awesome! We had never tried it before so we weren't sure what to expect. We took a group of about 25 with different ages and athletic abilities. EVERYONE had fun. There is a lodge with awesome mountain views, a fireplace and a restaurant. The fee is very reasonable and includes the tube. It is $13 per person for an Orange County resident and $18 per person for a non-resident. The session is 90 minutes long which is plenty of time. They have 12 lanes you can ride and cable tows to take you back up the hill. There is also a fire at the bottom of the hill where you can sit and warm up.We plan to come back in March and will definitely do this a few times every winter. It is so much fun and a good way to help with the winter blues. I wish I had known about this place sooner. I definitely recommend it. :-)
