The entire experience of Philipsburg Manor was enjoyable. It would be good to take a family with younger children to give them an idea of how people lived and it will help them understand the history of this country. Not all people live in split level homes and have tv etc. This is a working and thriving farm that depicts life in the 1800's . I love that people are dressed to the period and that there is a lot of diversity in the roles shown here. IT was an excellent opportunity to educate the public on life in this very town existed some 200 years before and to this day and the several times that I have revisited it remain a warm memory for me.

Takes the kids, great history lesson and the views are breathtaking. It is like stepping back in time. The panoramic view looks like a Hudson Valley School painting

Me and my husband came here yesterday and really enjoyed the tour. Our first tour guide was very informative and told us all about the manor house itself, then we met up with another tourguide who explained how the mill worked. I wish I remembered his name because he was so knowledgable, and made the stories so interesting and painted such a good picture of how it really was for the slaves and Phillip's family. After the mill, they take you over to the activity center, where a woman was explaining how it would have been to cook back then, and storing vegetables, and fruits for the next season. Our last part of the tour was in the barn, where they showed us how they used to sledge the wheat. This was a very interesting tour and would recommend it to people of all ages.

Very informative tour. I hadn't even stopped to think that New York had slaves at some point in history. And our very knowledgeable tour guide was an African-American retired NY cop. Which really brought to life the harsh realities of slavery.The rest of the afternoon I spent watching demonstrations of how the grist mill worked, how they made medicines from plants, and other workings of the farm.If I wasn't so chicken, I would have returned for the Halloween festivities. This is truly one of the Hudson Valley's treasures.

Went with a group of 13 & we had a ball. The costumes are awesome & the event/show was very well done & authentic! The "monsters" are very happy/accommodating taking pictures with anyone who asked them. I am not easily scared at these type of events but I have to tell you, they scared the heck out of me several times! The only draw back is the wait times. We had to wait online for approximately 35 minutes before even entering the exhibit & then again approximately 15 minutes before entering the actual exhibit. I understand there has to be crowd control & I do have to admit once you were inside those wait times were forgotten! Have to add that the staff was very accommodating ensuring our entire group of 13 went in together. All in our group were very happy we went

The Horseman's Hollow at the Phillipsburg Manor was awesome. My wife and I had so much fun we cant wait to do it again next year. You walk through a trail around the grounds and in through buildings with scary scenes with people who dress in costumes and make up that jump out and scare you. Great costumes and make up jobs. It is recommended to get tickets early the event sells out quick.

The grounds are very beautiful, every picture I took even with just my iPhone came out so beautiful. We enjoyed just sitting on a bench and enjoying the view. Due to previous conflicting plans we did not go on the tour, however the outside was beautiful.

So much fun!!! What a great scary attraction! It was me and my 2 stepsons (12, 14) and 2 of our friends. They let us go through with one other group of about 5 people, who walked behind us. I like the fact that they have you walk thru in small groups; otherwise I think it would be really congested and nuts. Anyway, the scenery, makeup, skits, etc. were awesome and it's clear they put a lot of thought into it. We wanted to be scared, and we were. Probably a little more startled than scared, but who cares?? We were constantly being surprised by characters lurking around corners, etc. Would definitely go back. Just an FYI, we booked these tickets at the beginning of September. You have to do that or don't count on getting in. That goes for pretty much any Sleep Hollow attraction for Halloween.

I am rating this by the helpfulness of the people who work here because unfortunately we did not get to experience any events. All attractions were sold out which was disappointing but we enjoyed our day by grabbing a bite at a waterfront restaurant. Do your research before coming because October is very popular. You will also find restrooms at this site and an information desk. The grounds are very pretty and they do have overflow parking. We were told that October events start booking Labor Day weekend on Hudson valley.com. This is a place where you need to book ahead and not just jump in the car and take a chance.

This is the main hub of everything that is going on in Sleepy Hollow. The staff was very courteous and helpful, although maybe a little slow and overwhelmed at times.

Horseman's Hollow was outstanding!!! Tickets were little pricey but worth it! My children are 12, 11, and nine...they all loved it!!! It wasn't the typical cheesy haunted house that you typically see this time of year. This was a class act production. The make up was outstanding and the actors very engaging!!! Can't wait to go back next year!! Tickets book as early as the first week in September get them fast!!

My husband, friends and I were in NYC for a visit recently, and decided to take a day trip to Tarrytown. We took a tour of the Philipsburg Manor, and learned so much about the history of the Philipses family, as well as the working of the farm and mill. Our tour guide Bob Morgan, at the mill, was absolutely captivating in his storytelling of how the mill worked! He was animated and "in character" when speaking about what it took to run the mill and what the mill produced! Bob was able to make us feel as if we had stepped back in time to the property 300 years ago. His knowledge of the Philipsburg Manor is incredible, and his love of what he does is extremely evident! Bob made our tour of the Manor a truly great experience!

We enjoyed Philipsburg. It's a bit different from most of the other places we visited in the Hudson Valley. If you go to Kykuit (highly recommended), you can get your tickets for half off. For $6/person and a short walk, Philipsburg was well worth our time and the cost of admission.The water is low, so the mill will only work for a short time, but even watching it turn for a few seconds is a treat. You get a nice view of everyday life from that time, and will visit the main house, the mill, a secondary building, and the barn, each with their own docent. Ours ranged from quite good to acceptable.

We were only able to see the grounds and buildings from out side as the were setting up for a Halloween production. But are going back later to see the inside.

Going in, I wasn't sure what to expect, as the property is smaller compared to some of the other historic sites that are a part of the Historic Hudson Valley membership. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. First, I was surprised to learn that, unlike the others, it actually isn't a house. Rather, it's a 17th century equivalent of an office building. I also was not expecting the tour to be as thorough and in depth. I liked how the tour was interactive. All of the tour guides were fantastic and I have to say that I really enjoyed this tour and it may have been my favorite out of all the sites we visited. As something to keep in mind, this tour is a bit longer, as it is so interactive. Our tour was around an hour and a half.
