A recent "need to have it" search brought me up to Kittery after calling around to other outlet locations. I hadn't been up there in a while, maybe a couple of years and remember it to be a good, successful, shopping experience. This time, though, I was surprised at how dated the signage and information was. This is not a common "outlet" experience where you park and walk to the stores.. instead the outlets are set up in little strip malls and you drive to the different sections. The map I picked up at the visitors center was dated from almost a year prior, and since then it was clear that stores had closed (even though at those sections, the signs for those closed stores remained as well). The stores themselves have very helpful staff and a good variety of merchandise- mostly what you'd expect, but I've definitely found better deals at other outlets (Merrimack, in particular). It was also kind of confusing to see that both Simon and Tanger are represented here... definitely needs some sort of branding makeover to figure things out.
One of the original outlet shopping areas before outlet shopping became a thing. Have been going up to Kittey since I was a kid and feel not a lot has changed in 20+ years. You can find many outlet staple stores, but would like to see more variety. As a kid I remember walking from section to section, but I wouldn't say that it is pedestrian friendly. I still frequent Kittery because it is relatively close, so not a big deal if I don't find deals.
This was our first time visiting Kittery. People from home rave about the shopping here so we decided to give it a try.We are used to outlet shopping and have been to some in Orlando, Merrimack, etc. and are used to parking in one spot and going shopping. These outlets are not designed this way. The buildings are located on one street and you have to use your car to go from building to building. This can be a letdown, especially if it's raining. The buildings were beginning to show their age also. The selection is good but we skipped many shops. You can find some great stuff if you really look hard. I had trouble finding shirts or sweaters because most of the sizes were either S or XL but that's usually what happens in outlets, it's the leftovers. The area is beautiful but we won't visit again just for the outlets.
you can find good things at good prices... If you are looking for outdoors gear, this is not the place, the trading post (not outlet) is as expensive as any other store.
We stopped in quite a few stores at the Kittery Premium Outlets and were surprised at how many bargains we got. It was a great shopping experience to have all those stores in one area. No running around. I must visit the next time through.
We spent a whole Saturday of the holiday season. You have to enjoy getting in and out of your car though, for it is up and down a main thorough fare. Prices and selections are great, there is a style and brand for everyone. We were surprised at the light crowds and a salesperson said they actually lose crowds to the indoor shopping malls. Bah humbug, this is so much more fun!!
So many places to chose from. We like to visit the Petridge Farms outlet on the side of the Weathervane resturant. Cookies, chocolates, bread and many items at discount prices. Negative is that you need to drive to the different malls - there are times that a trolley runs between the shops. Could have a better selection of restaurants available. Doubt you could leave the area without purchasing something.
The worst weather ever, torrential rain, but it was worth it. Got there early and got a good parking space , there are plenty though. You need a day unless you are going for something specific, got a lot of good deals with shops not available in UK, Talbots for ladies, plenty of places to eat or drink, the U.S. does that so well, you need your walking shoes as it is quite spread out
Kind of like little strip malls so you had to drive to get to a new chunk of stores and the main road was a bit busy but it was ok. We got great deals at the Columbia outlet. Was in the area so why not shop a little lol. Same as other outlet areas where some stores nice and clean with good deals and others, not so much. Worth checking out if in the area.
This is a Simons Outlet so you will be familiar with many of the stores. Just over the Maine line in Kittery. Six different shopping sections of the outlets, plus several restaurants and The Kittery Trading Post. Good parking areas, right off 95, rest rooms, visitor center, sidewalks to get around easily. Great day trip or end to a vacation weekend. Safe, clean and very popular outlet location. Crowded on the weekends and of course holiday time is packed. Bring your walking shoes to get to the many locations and know you will be in quite a bit of traffic as you walk along Rte 1. Some bargains to be had and choices galore but personally I find most outlets overpriced.
Going to the outlets was the main reason for staying in Kittery. I was expecting great deals on clothes or shoes. I didn't find any. I would recommend coming back to Kittery, just not wasting time at the outlets.
You will waste a lot of time getting from one area of this "mall" to the next. I hike 1-3 days a week in the summer and love walking, but this layout sucks. The paths you can walk along are not pleasant. You have to walk along the main busy road. This mall spans several miles, because it's like a store or two on one corner, then another small group of stores half way down the street, and then nothing, and then more stores.A lot of the stores are full price, not discounted as a typical outlet it. At least shopping in New Hampshire you don't pay sales tax... no purpose to drive to this mall... and if you are in the neighborhood... I still doubt I would stop by.
First off I love outlet shopping and have been to many outlets in the US. I have to say this one was a total let down. The design as others have said sucks, the selection of stores are not that great. As for the bargins a total let down. The prices were the same price as I find at home, and for things that were a great buy sizes were limited. I can honestly say I would not go back.
Lots of great shops. However they are not located in one mall. They are in numerous strips along the road. Unless you have a lot of time, you need to plan out your shopping and expect to drive from group to group.
The outlets are right in line with most around the country-good sales, brand names, but the traffic is terrible in that area and getting between the centers requires getting into the car and driving to each or crossing a dangerously busy highway on foot........there should be some sort of access road to link the different outlet centers to alleviate the snarls. There is a Burger King and McDonald's within two of the centers for a quick refreshment, which was helpful on a hot day. Also, parking is horrible.......not nearly enough......people circling and waiting for ANY vacant spot. Unless you need to get something or have great patience, maybe stick to the smaller shopping areas.
