Narragansett Beach is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. For locals it becomes a place of social gathering in the offseason, where we can admire one of our town's best features, while visiting with neighbors and friends...and sometimes their dogs as well.

Beautiful sand and views. I recently stayed at the village inn across the street and the morning of my departure took a lovely stroll down the sea wall there. The towers looked majestic in the morning and apparently there are many dog owners in the area because boy did I see a lot of dogs. There were surfers in the water putting on quite a show, the energy is great in this small town.

This beach is located near commercial and residential neighborhoods. A seawall runs alongside of it and offers walking throughout the year; if you're not up to beaching it, granite benches at the seawall offer a bird's eye view. Off in the distance is a charming stone structure, The Towers, a spot for group events, weddings; this is all that remains of a long ago casino. The nearby park with the bandshell offers summer concerts, There's a beach snackbar but across the street, behind the condo development, there are more small eatery options, including Nana's Ice Cream, Dunkin', and local places. Bathhouse, showers, lockers. Stairs and wheelchair ramp. Admission fee. The beach itself sometimes tries to be too many things to people: swimmers, surfers, boagie boarders, stand-up paddlers, etc. There should be clearly marked activity zones but there aren't. Be careful where younger kids swim; some of the inexperienced surfers may not be aware..... just sayin. At the eastern beach end, there's a river that some folks ride. Keep an eye on your kids; we rescued a very frightened 13 yr old girl, who was being pulled out to sea... Her parents were chatting with their backs to her! So preventable. The beach used to be wider but it still offers a fun place to swim and sun.

This is a great beach to just hang out with friends or family. It's also a good place to go surfing, especially for beginners. Locals' get a discount rate and visitors have to pay to get on the beach. Great place to go in the offseason to walk along the beach and let your dog run free.

I used to live a 3 minute walk away from the beach, right by the police station. The beach is great anytime spring, winter, and fall. It takes about 30 minutes to walk from one end to the other. During the off season there's a mostly locals walking their dogs on the beach. It's relaxing and wonderful. I LOVE this beach 9 months out of the year. For the EXTREME contrast, It's SO CROWDED in summer that it's not even worth it. It's like when you step on an anthill and the ants run EVERYWHERE. Also you have to pay to walk onto the beach in the summer! That's absolutely ridiculous. I wouldn't walk onto that beach during the summer if you paid me! tl;dr: Beach is great spring, winter, and fall and not worth it during summer

We rode the Jamestown & Newport Ferry around Narragansett Bay and observed the lighthouses, bridges and homes around the bay.

Unlike most of the reviews here, our visit to Narragansett was in mid-October - after tourist season and the surprising fee-based entry. On a crystal-clear Wednesday afternoon, we strolled along Ocean Drive, beneath The Towers (the iconic sturdy stone archway and the last standing remains of the former Pier Casino) and along the almost vacant stretch of ivory beach. We watched the birds scurry along the lightly breaking surf and enjoyed the salty sea breezes. Very pretty!A few days later (a Monday) I drove down from where we were staying (East Greenwich) to the beach and was given a tremendous gift: an utterly breathtaking sunrise. Gold and rose shimmered on the cloud canopy for a few fleeting minutes. What a scene, such serenity. It was crisp and chilly, so only me and a couple dozen other early risers were there to witness. I could not have asked for a better memory from our visit to Rhode Island.

Town beach is lovely for a walk. Nice, clean white sand. Some people out surfing but the waves were pathetic. The Towers nearby make this a very picturesque area for a stroll. Plenty of parking and green space.

They have beginner waves for surfers. Harder sand. Clean ocean water. Don't bring alcohol into the beach.

The town beach in Narragansett is truly wonderful. One area is reserved for surfers, other for swimmers. Great family fun atmosphere.

Some of the best times of the summer are as it is beginning or coming to an end. This year's vacation caught the end of the summer but not the waves. The night was perfect and so were the waves. People walking in the sand, sitting on the beach or trying to catch the last wave made it worth a time to remember.

it is a great place for the family! Especially in the fall/sept- free parking and NO crowds!!!!!!!!!

It was a beautiful beach that we spent the day at watching our son and all the other children surfing. We even got our kite up. Perfect beach day.

Like this beach, location, how well kept up - not so much a fan of distance from parking lot to the beach
