jefferson davis memorial kentucky state park

If you are a Civil War buff, then you need to visit this memorial park. The monument (resembling the Washington Monument) is totally impressive. Make sure to call ahead to see if tours to the top will be open on the day of your visit (small fee). The museum can be toured for a minimal charge.Just looking at the monument is impressive!Really cool!

We followed the signs off the pennyrile to check this out as I had heard about it before. There is a huge obelisk here and a museum. It was closed the day we stopped but we got to see the monument which was impressive. I would like to come back someday when it's open.

I recently moved to the Ft. Campbell, Ky. area and saw the signs to this site. On a lark one day I went and was very pleased with what I found. There is a hugh oblisk (4th largest in the USA) dedicated to Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy and a fascinating museum with his history and genuine artifacts from his era. It was very tastefully done. There is an elevator to the top of the oblisk providing a lovely view of the area. The site is only open Fri thru Mon 9-5 but there are picnic grounds and shelters and stone grills available year round. This site is just off Interstate 24 and is well marked how to get there. A great place to stretch your legs and open your mind to some fascinating history of the Civil War era !
