diamond caverns

We didn't plan to stop here but as we were traveling through Kentucky the signs caught our eye and after a quick discussions we were pulling off the highway... This is a short distance off the highway so a great quick thing to do on your way from Kentucky to Ohio ... Easy off easy on... The tour itself is only an hour but the Cave is majestic.. It was my first cave experience; when you learn about the history of cave and get to see this 80 foot under ground wonder you will be amazed ... LES was our guide and you could tell that although he did this all day...each time was like the first... We are glad we stopped on whim and I recommend that you do too.

We visited multiple caves on our trip and Diamond Caverns was by far our favorite. The cave itself is beautiful, the location was well kept, and the guide (McKenzie) did a great job educating the adults and interacting with the children (3yr and younger). There are quite a few stairs, some very steep and in tight places; still, we highly recommend this stop.

It's looking good for a 70+ year old building that used to be a hotel back in its hey-day!I'm sorry though that you consider us a "tourist trap". We rely on parents to keep up with small kids and their hands. With regards to the crystals, because of preservation, it's illegal to remove anything out of cave's in the United States (if we took them all out to sell, there'd be none to see in the cave!). It's for that reason we get our crystals from Brazil, which is where the overwhelming majority of quartz you see for sale, in any given location, comes from.Cave on! -and we hope to see you again soon!
