Went there to see the Kentucky art winners exhibit and continued on to see the exhibits on the Civil war in Kentucky and the fun Duncan Hines exhibit. The Asian exhibit was a little less interesting partly because the hall was dark. It's a good way to spend a couple hours. The gift shop will be closing at the end of the year and everything is 50% off, so go find a bargain.
Beautiful building! Very nice exhibits that are constantly updated to make it worthwhile to visit often. Saw the tools of trade exhibit and it was fascinating!
Interesting but not enough on display for $US5 entry fee. Plenty of room to add more about USA history for tourists who are not visiting other museums.
Duncan Hines displays were interesting and informative. Civil War displays and photos amazing! Quilt display very unique as well as furniture displays. Was easy to get lost on self-guided tour; sometimes hard to keep group together.
Paying $10 for a museum that includes numerous quilts, the IAE exhibit, and not a lot about Kentucky is disappointing. If you like quilts, the exhibit may be enough reason for you to visit. If you like IAE (Instruments of American Excellence), that may be enough for you to visit. If you want to learn more about Kentucky history and the uniqueness of the state, look elsewhere. The displays on Duncan Hines and Kentucky during the Civil War were interesting, but there was much left out about the state.
Had some time to kill while in town before driving to Cave City, so we decided to stop. I am glad we did. Many floors of displays that were truly interesting. The Duncan Hines exhibit was fascinating. Maybe a bit pricey, but still an enjoyable time.
The museum is great, make sure you spend seeing the exhibits. I use the Special Collections an Manuscripts section alot. Its wealth of information. If you are doing local genealogy, a great place to start. The staff are top notch.
This is a small museum, and it's delightful. It's staffed by students, and they are helpful. We toured the furniture (mostly victorian) and quilt exhibits and enjoyed it very much. For the price $5 per for us, it was great for an after-lunch pasttime.
I went to visit this museum while passing through town on a road trip. I thought it was a decent museum with quite a few things to look at but it was nothing special in my eyes. Large sections of local artists and quilts which did not interest me much. They had a nice civil war section, but nothing I haven't seen before.
Located on W Kentucky campus a little hard to find. You park across the street. Interesting display on Duncan Hines otherwise just another typical small museum.
In truth, I've been there twice but only saw the fascinating Civil War exhibit. I live in New Mexico so am not a Civil War buff and found the displays informative and interesting especially as related to local history.
Enjoyed the Kentucky Room with the huge fireplaces, oil paintings, and beautiful staircase.
