I agree with a previous review....tour starts out....here have some free beer...followed by here have some more free beer...a few short films...a short walk through and more free beer! Amazing! The place is under construction so there was no food at the moment....can't wait to come back! Our guide was funny and very helpful. Word of advice....get a limo...pack it with your friends and just enjoy the tour because you are not driving home! !!!
The brewery tour was short, yet informative. The tasting room was amazing, and offered two hours of unlimited tasting. Guides are available to assist you with the 14+ self-serve taps and mixing of brews to create delicious concoctions. There is comfortable seating inside, as well as some pub games, and then outdoor patio seating with umbrellas. This was definitely one the best day trips I have taken out of the Quarter. And the price was perfect: FREE. They do not serve food, though, so make sure you have a responsible driver who can get you 1.5 miles down the road to the Abita Brew Pub for some awesome food (and more beer).
Every time I have guests or friends that want to make the trip up to the Northshore we go to Abita Brewery. I have been waiting and finally decided to write a review of the tour. Think of this free tour as ~15 minutes this is our history and how we brew beer and ~45 minutes of open bar on whatever they are currently brewing (My favorite was the 25th Anniversary Vanilla Doubledog). If you are driving from New Orleans may I suggest this itinerary:1. Take the first tour of the day and visit the Folsom Global Wildlife Refuge (Tripadvisor review here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g40156-d265467-Reviews-Global_Wildlife_Center-Folsom_Louisiana.html )2. Abita Brewery Tour is just South of Folsom3. Brew Pub for lunch (Tripadvisor review: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g29452-d2366207-Reviews-Abita_Brew_Pub-Abita_Springs_Louisiana.html)If you are here for a short visit, this will make use of your time as you will be back in New Orleans by ~330 PM which provides enough time for a nap prior to going out to enjoy the nightlife.
the tour was short and sweet but the beer was plentiful and good. I was impressed that you could actually just walk behind the bar and sample anything you want!
Small and quaint. Enjoyed the tour. Abita has a nice pub/restaurant feel to the tasting room.Lots to view, read, purchase, play while waiting for tour or after tour. Abita is great about letting their patrons taste what ever is in the tap room and any seasonal bottle they may have at present. There is other great things to do and places to eat nearby. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
This was a nice brewery visit. Got to see a film on beer production. This brewery has grown from a very small brewer to a large one. The great thing is that you could help yourself right from the tap. Our group really enjoyed their visit.
That alone should rate it 5 stars. The employees are all really nice and very eager to talk beer. I've loved Abita for a long time but I'm an even bigger fan after learning how socially responsible they are.The "tour" is really just walking into the fermentation room and listening to a 5 minute presentation. Fun but not too serious.Enjoy the beer.
This was a great visit, there were plenty of nice people visiting. The employees working that day were friendly and informative. The tour is a little shorter than I remember. But hey if I get to have an extra free beer rather than seeing the bottling area I am good with that. I will definitely visit again.
Took a very nice tour where you can see the tanks and equipment, which is very impressive. Then, it's off to taste test the excellent beer. Nice room inside to hang out with a very long bar and a long wall of beer taps. Outside area to sit also is very nice. Pair it with the nearby alligator ranch and tour.
These people have a really good thing going on here. The tour is awesome. Beautiful Louisiana setting outside and inside the taproom and it's fun being amongst all the people as it's usually pretty busy. At the beginning you all line up and get to try any beer from the tap and then you can loop right back around to hit it up again. There's a video and a brief tour inside the brewery then it's back to more free beer, yea! Some people may say it's not the most informative tour about brewing beer, but that's not really the point. It's free beer and a lot of fun. There's some nice abita merchandise to buy there too. Check it out!
The tour was very short, but the place is spotless. Then they offered generous samples. Nice atmosphere.
Free beer! Really! Yes, if you visit the Abita brewery, the tour is free. The visitor's center is very nice, it looks new and is set up like a pub. The big difference between the ordinary pub and this place is that you ending up behind the bar, pouring your own beer from Abita's varied array of craft beers.Abita's products are first rate, totally different in every respect from run of the mill mega-brand stuff. Abita is a rapidly expanding local company who have become a fixture here in the Deep South. I've been here for four years and have seen their beers establish a strong presence in local supermarkets, as well as small stores. I've wanted to visit the brewery for a while and am pleased I took the time to do so. As well as the free beer, you get a tour behind the scenes with a guide explaining the brewing process. Before leaving, you can check out a modest gift shop and buy some Abita merchandise if you choose. I prefer to spend on their beers! AndyGator and Turbodog are very good. I was designated driver, so only got a little taste - if you can get someone to drive you or take a taxi, even better.
My only complaint is that it doesn't last longer! I've done this tour multiple times and it never disappoints. A must do on the Northshore.
The Abita Brewery tour is a small look at the growing Abita beer line as it developed over the years in Covington. First, what is now the Brew Pub, and now the excellent tasting room which allows the traveler the benefit to taste both the beers themselves as well as some really thoughtful combinations of the beers themselves which really were amazing. The tour of the brewery itself is limited, but no one seemed to mind as they all gathered back in front of the self-service taps to enjoy their beers of choice. Friendly, likeable staff made the visit fun and enjoyable. You'll need an hour on Saturday to take the tour and expect a crowd! It is fun, free, and amazing!
If your looking for a fun tour you might want to check this out. You can sample all of their different brews prior to the tour, fill your glass during the tour and enjoy a little more afterwards. Plus, it's free!
