My husband and I booked two days and the first day was slim pickings and slow. We decided to try again and we had a blast!!! Weather was perfect. Warm and cloudy. We caught our limit on trout in 2 hours and spent the rest of our time hunting big red fish. We found them and more. Captain Dave was awesome. We couldn't wait to cook some. EJ, the owner, promptly returned calls and texts. No need to worry about the game wardens because the captains follow the game and fish laws. Throw the little ones back. Plenty of big fish to catch.

Planned a fishing trip as part of my brother's bachelor party weekend in New Orleans. Had a party of eight so needed to charter two boats. EJ and Mike were great guides. The boats were full of people who had limited to no fishing experience and within 30 mins They had everyone casting and catching fishes like pros. Everyone had a great time and caught plenty of fish. EJ and Mike helped clean and bag our fish as well. Afterwards we brought the fish to the restaurant down the street where they sautéed and fried the fish for us. It was the best meal of the entire weekend. The sautéed fish was the best.Highly recommend Jean Lafitte Charters if you want to do some fishing while visiting New Orleans.

Made arrangements with EJ and he set me up with Captain Mike. The weather was great but the fish weren't biting . Still was able to bag 4 great Redfish. The price was reasonable . Captain Mike was great . Would definitely recommend them and will go out with them next time I am fishing in NOLA.

My son and I decided to go on a charter fishing trip while in New Orleans. EJ, the owner, promptly responded to my email inquiry, and when rain was in the forecast, stayed in touch with me to make sure the weather was ok for fishing. Fished out of Lafitte, which is an easy 45 minute drive from the French Quarter. Captain Mike served as our guide. He was very pleasant, and told us a lot about the area. The area outside of Lafitte where we fished is referred to as a "lake." Although the fishing started slow, we caught a number of redfish and catfish, which Mike filleted for us when we returned to the dock. Sodas and water were provided on the trip. It was a very pleasant half-day fishing trip, and this charter service seems determined to make sure you enjoy the experience. I would recommend them without hesitation.

I just got back from a few days of fishing with Capt EJ. I've been on a lot of charter trips and can say that none are better run than this one. He's professional and hard working. We started early each day which proved to be the key. EJ was willing to go where the fish were, and switch up tactics based on the bite. We caught a lot of great reds by casting spoons. It was an exciting way to fish them. He also cleaned and bagged our catch. I would recommend him to anyone looking for some serious fishing.

I first found Jean Lafitte Charters on the outdoor site, Ms Outdoors Forum. My wife and I met our daughter from Hattiesburg, Ms and our son from Colorado in NO. Let me say that the "camp" is a place that I could live the rest of my life. In spite of the typical Southeastern heat and humidity we caught limits of good Redfish each day. Capt E.J. Works hard for you and is as likable person as you will ever meet. Lots of fun. I highly recommend this service and will surely be back.

My family went on the swamp tour and we had the best time; we were with Chris A., who are apart of our family. As they said we searched for awhile and finally found a tour that allowed up to six people and who would stop to let you look at all of the wild life. We had a great experience and E.J. was kind and didn't leave anyone out, he made sure that everyone had fun. My dad made a new friend that day! E.J. took pictures and one video to post on the website, it was EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We caught a baby gator to take pics with and E.J. said that it was bigger than the average size gator that he usually lets people take pictures with. Right off the bat we were excited. We had the best time, it was the greatest tour, if not one of the greatest tours in my entire life! I would definitely do it again!!!!!! E.J. was the best tour guide ever.... he was awesome. I recommend him!

My family went on the Swamp Tour with Jean Lafitte Fishing Charters. We searched around and decided that this was the best bet for something exciting but also for a small group. This tour was perfect because it was just the six people in our family. Our guide E.J. was extremely nice and he also knew so much about the history of the area and all of its beautiful wildlife. He took the time to answer all of our question and even position the boat to get a family photo with the old cemetery he showed us. Our absolute favorite part of the tour was when we would spot a Gatorade and E.J. would throw out his fishing pole and lure the gator towards the boat. He even brought a small gator aboard the boat and taped its mouth shut and showed us how to safely hold it. E.J. made sure that we each got to hold the gator and take plenty of videos and pictures. I would highly recommend Jean Lafitte Fishing Charters to anyone looking for a great trip on the swamp at very affordable pricing. You wont be disappointed!

Me and my dad met captain Dave at our hotel at 6:30 in the morning. We drove to his house, he took out the boat, and we were fishing by 7:45. We each set up our poles with a bobber and gulp lures. For about 20 minutes we kept getting bites. About 25 speckled trout all together with us 3 in just 20 minutes. Most of them were keepers. Captain Dave was humorous and we all had a great time. Well after 35 minutes we stopped getting bites, so we moved up the Bayou. Everybody on the Bayou that day was catching all specks including me, my dad and Captain Dave. So we stopped with the bobber and fished near the bottom of the bayou and tons of trout. BITE after BITE after BITE. Finally Captain Dave pulled up a small redfish, not big enough to keep. We caught a few more specks, then I caught an 18 inch redfish, 4 pounds. Man did it give a good fight. Then we caught a bunco more specks, kept about half of them. 30 of them. Then it was about to rain so we had to head back, but I wanted 1 more cast. Just one more little speck. I casted, caught a 3 pound smallmouth bass. On the last cast! What a coincidence. We went back to Captain Dave's house after a great a splendid day of fishing. Captain Dave fileted the fish then went in his house and ate jumbalaya. His family was very nice. He drove us back home. IF I COULD GIVE 10000000000000000 STARS I WOULD

Nine of us from the Chicago area met at Captain EJ's condo for four great days of fishing. This was my first trip to the area for strictly fishing, but my fishing buddies had all been there before. They kept telling me how great the accomodations and fishing were so I had to see it to believe it.And believe it I did.We stayed at two beautiful 3 bedroom homes across a canal from each other and were picked up at our private dock each morning for our fishing adventure .Captains EJ,Barry, and Mike knew where the fish were and more importantly how to fish for them. They provided lunch and beverages along with top notch fishing gear and fast clean and comfortable boats to get us to those distant fishing hot spots. We really got spoiled on our first day with a catch of over 200 speckled trout keepers and at least a dozen redfish. What a great experience for this first timer . I can't say that each successive day was as good as that first but we always managed to catch plenty of fish along with some really big ones.I'm sure someone from our fishing club is already planning next years trip and the only thing I can tell him is Sign me up. If your planning a trip or in New Orleans and just want a diversion from Bourbon Street give EJ a call. You won't be disappointed

We highly recommend Jean Lafitte Charters for marsh fishing! We unfortunately experienced a bit of "bad" weather, but we still had fun and brought in a decent catch despite the conditions. Our group of six caught lots of specks, a redfish and even a few drums. We also had the pleasure of staying two nights in the fish camp house and it was perfect! The accommodations were comfortable and above average. We enjoyed fishing with Captain EJ and Barry and look forward to coming back soon!

I highly recommend Jean Lafitte Charters for fishing in Louisiana. Fishing was outstanding on my October 2013 four day outting with Captain EJ Plaisance out of Barataria, Louisiana. Our group caught lots of speckled trout, redfish (both trophy or eating size) and even a few large black drum fish. Captain EJ was very good going for the types of fish I went to Louisiana for. Food that he arranged at local restaurants was great (including some of our own fresh caught fish). The waterfront condo he put our group in was top notch - clean and modern. We spent an extra day visiting New Orleans which was fun. Try Jean Lafitte Charters with Capt EJ for southern fishing. You'll like it.

Excellent trip! My cousin and I joined Captain EJ for two days of fishing in early October. First, his "cabin"/home was very clean, comfortable, and more than we expected. Captain EJ was very personable, fun, and an all around nice person. His skills for fishing and his knowledge about the local waters are quickly evident. We were fortunate to have caught a limit of redfish early each day, black drum, trout, and even a largemouth bass (a rarity). I have fished with guides all over the country and Captain EJ was one of the best. I would definitely highly recommend him to anyone looking for some fun red fishing. P.S. if you stay at his place on the canal, soak a line with a piece of cut-bait. Caught a 45 pound channel blue catfish! Asked EJ about it!
