Tiki tubing. F U N. all. Day on the river with friends Just fun. It. Is all day. Of. Just. Sun. And. Fun. And a good tan. Very easy. To. Do. Just. Tube. Nothing to it. Just. Fun
This is a great way to spend a hot Louisiana afternoon. The employees are tons of fun. Once you check in, you are bussed up the road and dropped of at the starting point. Here is where you grab your tube and head to the water. Bring rope or bungee cords if you want to float as a group or just to keep your cooler of beer close by. Depending on the flow of the river and how often you stop at the sandbars to play, the trip can take 3-5 hours. Bring sunscreen, food, drinks, a water proof radio and plenty of good friends for a fantastic float.
I'll start this off by saying, I've done countless float trips elsewhere, and this place was a big let-down.I tried to like this river float. We came with a group of 5, and spent crazy money for tubes and 1 cooler tube. The staff is nice, and so are the cops that inspect your coolers at the start. No tie-off cords or string is included or available. The water is filthy and dangerous. People have died on this float trip in the past. There are so many underwater obstacles, that to be quite honest, I was hesitant to relax on this trip. The float is boring and slow. I've been on other float trips in Texas, Florida, and Alabama that blow this place out of the water. Won't be back.
So, I was super excited to go on this river. Here is the problem: tree branches everywhere! This is more of a workout than a relaxing trip. Also, I thought the back rest on the "bubbas yacht" would be sufficient, but no way... I think the people using the 2 person tubes looked way more comfortable. The staff was really great. 2 bubba tubes and a cooler tube came to $62.51 after tax. If you can make it to New Braunfels, go there. Also, don't try to get a discount on Ncrowd, as it gave me a "trouble with your billing address" and still managed to bill me with no voucher.
I was torn between 3 and 4 stores, but I though it was a bit pricey so stuck with 3 stars. For three people (two adults, one 11-yr-old child), the rental of three basic tubes and one cooler floaty came to over $65! There were a lot of submerged logs in the river, so while we were on the tubes we kept our legs up. The sandbars allowed for better places to stop and dunk without the risk of bloodying our shins on the logs. I was annoyed by the amount of trash on the sandbars--mostly beer cans, big surprise. We got there early on a Sunday so I'm assuming that was the trash from the day or two prior. There were drunk people around, so if little ears are sensitive to swear words, this is not the trip for them. Our 11-year-old kept saying how much fun he was having, and wanted the river to continue beyond the 5 hours we took to ride it. Be sure to wear lots of sunscreen at the beginning, since reapplying it to skin that never quite seemed to dry off was challenging (but be sure to do that, too!). All-in-all we were in the sun for 6 hours. There is a shower for rinsing off at the end, but don't expect to wash your hair--it's not that kind of shower. Styrofoam coolers and glass are not allowed. And please, pick up after yourselves to keep the ride beautiful! It was pretty a good time, and I would go again when the river is a bit higher or the logs have been dredged. It would also help to have a coupon (Google to try and find one).
it was a great time with friends and spouse! its perfect for college kids and high school kids, NOT RECOMMENED for children AT ALL~ alot of drinking and cutting lose. had a great time. def bring large ice chest, sunscreen, and WEAR A HAT! dont bring ANYTHING precious with you that might fall in water! NO GLASS containers and they are SERIOus about this! have to have a vaild ID on you at all times! they wont let you in without one. other than that this was my first time and i have a decent time, lost DL in water and caught poison oak, but good time,
