We were so glad we made a point of going. The staff was great and safari was great fun! The animals even stick their heads in the open air wagon for you to feed them!Deer, Llamas, Alpacas,Giraffes, Donkeys, Zebras and more!
Especially for kids. They get so up close and personal with the animals. The giraffes reach right in the tour vehicle and eat corn out of your buckets. The zebra let you pour corn in their mouths - so funny that they are that used to it. If you can afford the extra, take the private tour rather than the group tour. We WILL go back. Soooo many animals......
Been visiting several time a yr.for over 17 yrs. Always plenty of interaction with all animals. Then the greedy idea of $35. Per person pvt tours in a jeep means the large animal dont follow the train anymore because the jeep tours takes a few elite guest To THE BIG ANIMALS so they dont have to follow the train. So the guest who JUST PAY $20 per person packwd 40 plus in half dozen wagons and sold very hi priced feed get to feed a thousand deer and a few kinds of birds, mostly fat geese, and little else, and maybe see the buffalo, camels, long horn steer, giraffes , kangaroo from a distance while they are being fed by the small group in the jeep. After I had built up a trip to a group and was humiliated by the no show animals gathered instead around the jeep in the distance i havent been back in 4 yrs. An adult friend wants to go but have warned her she may be disappointed. For your dollar the New Orleans zoo has a better variety, a less rushed experience and truthfully a price savings. You dont feel pressed to buy feed at 10x the price that ends up feeding, fat geese and deer. The aquarium is a good visit for really hot summer days or foul weather days. .
We had an excellent experience at GWC. The deer, giraffes, zebras, and lamas came right up to our tram. The children loved being able to feed and pet the animals.
We are visiting NOLA in April and plan to visit the Global Wildlife Center sometime during our stay. We're interesting in the private tour ($35 each), but appears we need a minimum of 4 for this tour. If you're contemplating a visit and would be interested in splitting a private tour please contact me. We would be available April 19-22.
I'm not sure what I expected but it was not this. The whole experience made me very uncomfortable. You get on a bus that is packed with screaming children ready to feed the animals. All the animals stop what they are doing and chase the bus down looking for food. The whole concept is unnatural and unpleasant. A big NO.
Great place to take kids or take a date and ride the wagon across the landscape seeing all the animals. Buy a bucket of food and you will make animal friends teal quick and will be up close and personal to take pictures.
I love the millions of dear everywhere, it feels like you are at Santa's place :) But I was disappointed that we couldn't get out and touch the animals and I was quite a bit annoyed by our tour guide since she kept screaming her never-ending announcements over the mic. Chill-pill!!!
I have to believe that with wild animals there are good days to visit and bad days. I think we hit a good day. There are a couple of ways to see the animal across the almost 900 acres of property, either by tram or private jeep. We took the first tram out in the morning which I think is the best time. We saw all the animals except the kangaroos since they are so shy and hid from us. Actually there are several shy species that won't come get the food we had in the tram. It was really neat for the kids to have different antelopes, llamas, and such eat right out of your hands. We got the bucket of food which was plenty for the 1.5 hour tram ride. We saw the giraffes, particularly the new baby but they were shy too. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful with several funny and informative stories. But, the animals seemed to have the most fun.
Myself & my Grand kids were very disappointed because we did not get to see the giraffe's. There is a new gimmick there where you can get a private showing in a jeep & for $35.00 a piece, minimum 4 people they will drive you to see the animals. Of course if the Giraffes can just stay where the trees are & have food come to them, they will never take the long journey to see the wagon trains! All we saw were a bunch of Deer & Llama's & some Zebra's .For 2 small children and 2 adults we spent almost $100.00. The feed alone was $35.00. They should use the jeeps top herd the Giraffe's so everyone can see them!!
Fantastic experience. Very nice people and animals kept in a perfect environment. Would love to visit again soon.
We did a private tour and it was awesome. Just having a giraffe that close and being able to pet it is like a dream come true. I have swam with sea lions and sea turtles but this was even better
When you drive through the open gates, there all kinds of animals all around. When you ride around with the staff, you feed the animals. Zebras, Giraffe, and many kinds of elk and cattle. Pretty awesome. Worth the visit
It was really fun.... My kids loved it. The only thing I would advise is to take the private tour if your kids are looking forward to petting the giraffw. They did not come to us, but the private tour will drive to them. I would also advise making sure it's a nice day because if it thunders or lightning u will not get a rain check or rwfund.
Had a blast with the family! The giraffes were just amazing! Kids and adults had a fun time. Guide was very knowledgeable of the animals. We took the private "pinz" jeep tour and I'd say it was well worth the upgrade. We drove right into the groups of animals, no waiting for them to come to you. We bought a bin of food for 5 adults and 4 kids which was plenty.
