Very pleased with this park. It is well maintained. Sites are large and have plenty of shade as well as fire rings and BBQ grills. Showers had good pressure and plenty of hot water. Great outdoor getaway.

We loved our afternoon at Tickfaw. The boardwalks are outstanding, especially for a state park - very well-maintained and plentiful. This park is a must-see for those wishing to explore Louisiana swampland. The nature center is truly a gem - better than many stand-alone nature centers, in fact! Overall, the park offers many things found in the Everglades, without the price tag.

Love this small state park campground. We stayed in our camper in the RV loop. The boys enjoyed riding their bikes around the loop. Water & electric. Dump station next to the bathhouse. Bathrooms/showers clean & well maintained. Vending machine. There is a separate peaceful loop for primitive campers. This area is the most beautiful I think. There are a few sites that back directly up to the swamp! No joke! We saw some brave tent campers. : ) We did not see alligators on our trip but I was surprised we didn't! Ha. Pack your bug spray of course. Although we stayed here in September, it wasn't as "buggy" as I expected. We walked on 2 different wooden boardwalk trails that take you through the woods & swamp land. The old cypress trees are majestic. I read the other reviews on here & the scenery truly does not disappoint. I think it is a "must see." I loved being able to show my boys what a true Louisiana swamp looks like. Just beautiful!! There is a separate area away from campground that has a nice playground & water park. There is a nature center too but we did not have time to visit. Look forward to returning.

Cabin 9 fit our needs for a wonderful holiday weekend. 1 queen bed and 2 bunks (5 adult family members). Great screened in back porch. Grill & picnic table in the backyard with plenty of space for a few competitive games of Ladderball. The boardwalk trail is very nice. We spotted four snakes along the way. This was actually our second stay at Tickfaw State Park. Third is a must.

I stayed there in a large customized van for just one night. Freezing cold and rainy the whole time.Loved this park. On Sat. morning more cold and rain. Rain cleared about 1pm and I hiked the trails. AWESOME. Great trails and if you can haul your kayak down one of the trails you can ride the river to the other trail (island with bridge) or go further to the canoe launch canal and pick up there. Very well done board walk on one trail. Quiet also. I prefer winter camping!

Read my previous review "Tickfaw State Park, LA Campground rating"This trip we spent 10 nights at Tickfaw State Park Campground in January 2014. The overall experience was great. The original review was based on a 1 night stay. This time we were going to stay for 7 nights but inclement weather (Most Interstate Roads were closed because of icing conditions. Our original departure would have been on a Friday. The park was booked solid for the weekend. A couple of cancelations accrued due to the road conditions, so we were able to book another site. Once we were assured of a place to stay, I asked the park representative if it might be possible to contact the people that had our site reserved for the weekend to see if they would be willing to take one of the open sites so we would not have to move from out current site. The other couple was very nice and agreed. We had the chance to talk with and thank them before the weekend was over. The roads reopened on Saturday and most of those that were booked to arrive on Friday showed up on Saturday.Due to the long stay we were able to better appreciate the cleanliness of the campground and the bath house. The bath house was clean, warm, with plenty of hot water, remember it was January and there was snow and ice on the ground in Louisiana!. The park rangers, park host and everyone we dealt with were friendly and helpful. I am going to give them a additional fudge factor here of .5 which will bump them up to and 8.5 with a 5 star ranking on Trip Advisor.Note: From here we drove to Chicot State Park near Opelousas, LA. Our experience there could not have been more 180 deg. In fact we didn't even stay there. I cover that one in a separate review.

The park is beautiful. The people that run it are obnoxious and rude. They completely ruined my camping experience! The girl at the front gate was extremely impolite! They didn't seem to care about the visitors at all! You ask a question, she rolls her eyes and gives you a answer like it's a real bother!

Tickfaw State Park is located about 20 Minutes from Hammond, LA. It is a smaller state park site wise, with one loop for improved sites and another loop for unimproved camping. Between these two loops is the shower area. One thing that I did like was the design of the park, no two way traffic, so it is easy to ride bikes. The park has paved roads and is small enough to ride your bikes to all of the areas. I believe this park was built around 1998. The improved sites have adequate space between them and the unimproved sited are well maintained with a tent pad and plenty of privacy. The park has a nice canoe trail, you can rent canoes for 20 a day and the trip is a fun one, I recommend it. The manager at the park was really nice and accommodating. The reason this park isn't rated higher is because of the shower area... not the cleanest. I was expecting nicer as the park is not that old.Other than that, was a nice time had by all, and I will visit this park again in the future.

The cabins here were very nice. Made a racoon friend wich the kids thought was great. Great places for the kids to play. Took a canoe out for a different veiw of the park.

Loved the interconnected roads to ride bikes. They have a picnic area and volleyball court next to the pond w/ lots of area for football and frisbee. Water playgrd too. Clean.

Tickfaw State Park 27225 Patterson Rd, Springfield, LA 70462For clarification, I am only rating the campground as it relates to RV and Trailer camping. No consideration is given for other aspects of a campground/park, such as swimming pools, clubhouses, or activities such as fishing or canoeing. Also, many campgrounds may have RV/TT sites that vary in quality. My assessment is base on what I perceive as the best they have to offer.I use a two part rating system. The first is based on the basic elements that most campgrounds provide. The value for each of the items is fixed. This puts all campground on the same level based on what they provide. The final rating is the basic number plus a factor of my assessment of campground maintenance, cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Occasionally, I will throw in a note to explain my evaluation. Most any campground can earn at least a basic 5.0 rating. For me an acceptable campground for a multiple night stay will have to have a final rating of 7.0 or above. Very few campgrounds will go over a 9.0 with 10 being the max. On Trip advisor a 6.5 to 7.0 is equivalent to 3 circles, four circles will be 7.5 to 8.0 and 5 circles are above will be 8.5 and above.Tickfaw State Park CampgroundBasic evaluation: RV/Trailer Campsite review, (30) sites, Surface: Paved (good width with decent back-in ease), Electricity Hookup: all have 30 and 50 amp connection, Water Hookup: Yes, Sewer Hookup: No, Dump station: Yes, Grills/Fire Ring: Yes, Picnic Table: Yes, Comfort Station: Yes. Value = 6.0Secondary rating. Based on the good maintenance of the sites, good separation between sites, cleanliness of the comfort station, Laundry, campground wi-fi, and the overall value and appeal of park I added 2 points to the rating for an overall rating of 8.0This is a nice state park. I particularly like the paved RV/trailer pads. We stayed here 5/2013 for one night (30 Ft. travel trailer). If you like the activities they offer, canoeing, etc you might rate it higher

We stayed at the group camp to celebrate our Mom's 80th birthday. It was awesome!! We have a pretty big family, but the camp area is so big we weren't cramped for space at all. Everything was nice and clean, kitchen well equipped, outside area with deck and fire pit very nice. We will definitely be renting this again!!

Well thought-out park with lots of interesting features. Trails are nice and the pond is best enjoyed walking around it. My fave -- tent sites have their own area away from the RV/trailers.

Tickfaw State Park is a great place to get away for the weekend! Lots of kid friendly activities, friendly staff and a great campground.

camped out at Tickfaw for a 2 night trip . Park is very clean , easy short and long trails - not well marked but you can't get lost but might just end up a little further down the road . We rented canoes for the day and the 5 year olds as well as the 12 year olds loved it good sight for kids to learn to canoe around obstacles , no intense currents ! Very helpful staff makes the park experpience ! Thanks
