This garden is not huge, but, particularly in spring, it is quite lovely. It's just a half mile or so off of 431, so it would make good place for travelers on the way to or from Florida to stop and stretch their legs or have a picnic. Paved trails wind throughout, from destination to destination. There is a fairly recently built facility that one can reserve for parties. The trail loops from there to a raised bed herb garden. It then bisects a rose garden with a pretty fountain and passes a small walled alcove (with a book lending station nearby) ideal for an afternoon of quiet reading or a picnic before leading visitors to a small pond. Here the trail divides. One can either go back up the trail to see a fruit and vegetable garden, with a working windmill, a butterfly garden, the cottage garden and the historic greenhouse or visitors can choose to take the trails leading into the wooded area of the park. A Japanese garden, complete with large koi pond is back here, as well as shade gardens and a succulent garden. There are some dirt paths in this area too, that lead into forested areas and near some wetlands. As you come out of the natural, forested area you'll see azalea and camellia gardens and a day lily garden. There's a pretty outdoor area designed for weddings and a gazebo where we once got stuck during an impressive lightning display. There's also an outdoor classroom if any teachers want to take advantage of the place. I often take my dog for a walk there. The park asks that you keep dogs on a leash, but it makes for a pleasant walk. I'll walk the loop two or three times. There are lots of pleasant places to picnic, but they don't have many trash cans, so you might want to bring a garbage bag to throw away your trash. Save some of the leftover bread to throw to the fish in the big pond or the koi pond - that was always a hit with my kids. It's also stroller and wheelchair friendly.Admission used to be a donation, but now I believe they ask you give a nominal entry fee on the honor system. It seems like it's $3 or $5 - I can't remember for sure. You can become a member - a family membership is $50, individual $35 and it will get you free admission to this garden, as well as 300 other participating botanical gardens throughout the U.S. It also gives you discounts at some local nurseries, discounts at the gift shop and a few other perks.

This is a great place to go for a walk. The pathways are paved for easy walking and there are tons of beautiful flowers to look at. I enjoyed my walk there.

This is a little hidden gem in Dothan. Very calming and serene. A wonderful smooth walking path and so interesting along the way. There is also a little wetland area to observe. The rose gardens are gorgeous. Worth a trip.

This is a very small Botanical Garden but we love to go out to take walks there. Love the new coy pond that they have been working on. If you like roses they have a nice rose garden.

We attended the wedding of a friend here it is a very beautiful place but very limited amount of inside space they had to use tents outside. It would have been perfect for a little smaller crowd.

Our grand children like it. The park usually has pretty foliage. And they have a gazebo where we sometimes have a picnic. It would be nice if they had some picnic tables, but they do not. I would have to give it an "average" rating.

The Botanical Gardens is a free area where multiple gardens (with a theme) converge. It is on the north side of Dothan off 431 and it features many different trees, flowers and plants. It's a perfect spot to take kids, go for a walk or enjoy the peace and quiet.

The botanical gardens here in Dothan were nice I guess. I was very disappointed in the size though. It is very small and all sights can be seen in a 30 minute walk. They had a Halloween theme going when we went and it was nice to see all of the displays the high school kids made.

I visited the gardens last fall and had a wonderful time. It took us a while to find the picnic tables because we didn't see a map but they were easy enough to find. The scarecrows were wonderful; minions were my favorite. I'm hoping to visit the gardens again this summer when more flowers are in bloom. If you're looking for a nice picnic spot at any time of the year I would recommend this place.

The Halloween in the Park is well done. Very creative folks with the themes given. You will also enjoy the Koi pond. It is very well done. The lock gate is a nice touch. Spring and Fall are very nice.

Great venue for events and weddings. Beautifully landscaped. Workshops are good. Small but a wonderful area.

I even got married here. The gardens are well keep and during certain holidays they have things for kids. I love the big koi pond. And they are always putting in new things. Many people must not know about this place because it's never crowded and a good place to go and relax.

The Dothan Area Botanical Gardens has been developed primarily with volunteer labor and donations. Some sections are still under development, but in season it is ablaze with beauty. A paved path winds its way among various kinds of gardens: roses, azaleas, flowering shrubs, succulents, aquatics, and others. All placed in a setting of pines and flowering dogwoods. The Gardens include a "wedding garden" all set up for outdoor ceremonies. Guests are greeted with a new visitor's center and friendly information. The cost is $5 for adults which can be deposited in a self-serve box at the entrance.
