We went to the Kiva Dunes Golf Club on March 9th at about 6:30 p.m. The pro shop staff member was rude, impatient and not interested in sharing comments or answering questions about the golf course, prices or sharing experiences with new customers. We were a party of 4 who interested in golfing and we were treated with short and rude comments. Not impressed. Thanks, Kiva Dunes. We golfed some where else and hope this review shows other potential customers they're not really of any importance and should spend their money some where else.
Great conditions, great course. With the wind blowing at least 20 mph, it was a tough test. We played okay and loved the course. Greens were fast and rolled true. Great layout and well kept. Nice staff and clubhouse.
This is the most challenging course I have ever played. The scenery is beautiful. There are barely any weeds on the entire turf. The spacious undulating greens are enveloped by monster bunkers. The staff was rowdy, friendly, and very attentive. I would not recommend it to beginners, but go for it anyway.
I was here for the first time and really enjoy this course. It was fair from the tee box you would normally play. The staff were great and looking always to see how they could make this a better experience for you.
This course has all the dips, hills, deep sand traps and water throughout the course that you get a glimpse of on their brochure of these two holes. Only drawback is not one single hole has a view of the Gulf of Mexico. I played with my husband and a friend of his and I think I lost the least amount of balls! Beautifully kept course. A barrel with ice cold apples awaits you on hole #1 which is an added bonus. Rates drop after 1:00 and course is open to the public. Go by the visitors center in Gulf Shores for a $10 off coupon which they honored on the after 1:00 rates, another bonus! Staff very friendly. We played on a Saturday in October and felt like we had the course to ourselves. Definitely would play this course again.
Rugged and mean this will test every aspect of your game. You have to know where the prevailing wind is to score decently. Lots of uneven lies. Not tricky but tough this is a true championship course
Immaculate course with a post card picture at nearly every hole - difficult course, so be prepared to make some shots when you need to. Well worth the visit.
Called ahead before making tee times for our week of golf in the area. David stated all work on course was done. 8/11/14 tee time 8:30 2sum. 7:45 arrive pay $95.00. Retrive bag of range balls by carts. Go to driving range and hit small bag of 25 balls. 8:15 starter comes to range tells us we can go off tee now and we are playing with another 2sum. I told him no we are not. I did not pay $95. to be joined up. He said yes you are. My playing partner said ok I would have left. =the two guys are nice and inform us they were told the only opening was 9:30 unless they played with us they are on the tee already. We te off they are nice and fun. we get to the green adn the starter has sent the 5sum behind us off already from the white tees. they are just off the green. we play to #7 and a marshall tells us we are two hioles behind, seprate and move on. I told him we are not there is a 2sum in front of us. Holes open to number 9. Ok off we go. play the par 3 then go to a par 4 with a blind tee toward green. We tee off and hit second shot. look over hill to green and we have hit over the 2sum ahead of us heads. Marshall says he does not know how we caught up so fast wait on the 2sum behind to play togehter again. Back 9 still had plug holes in greens. This course is over rated over priced and over marshalled. I give it a 3 of 5 and worth $55.00 in prime shape. PS I would not go back at the price and out of the way distance. Better golf in the area then this..
Kiva Dunes is a wonderful golf course. Although they had just aerated the greens they were still in very good shape. The rest of the golf course was 5 star. It's a fun layout near the beach. I think its a must play when visiting the area
I played this course with my 13 year old son. The course is beautiful, staff is helpful and attentive, and they were accomodating, scheduling us for a time we wouldn't hold anyone up (he is a young golfer) but still providing a morning tee time. The course is well manicured, greens were in great shape, and the marshall even brought some extra balls that he'd found to give to my son. I highly recommend this course.
Beautiful course, excellent service and quick play time! We ate lunch at the clubhouse after our round. It was quite tasty and the service is excellent.
My boyfriend and I traveled with his family to this resort for two reasons: beach and GOLF. The men of the family are avid golfers, including our 5-year old nephew. We couldn't have asked for a better week - between taking short walks to a private beach with a well-maintained boardwalk (complete with interspersed showers for body and feet) to the two highly-complimented rounds of golf played by the guys, we will be so sad to go home. The house we stayed in was a privately rented home, and although it needed some slight attention to it's exterior (paint, door handles, pressure-washing the 5 different decks/balconies), we could not have asked for better. This is an excellent place to come if the things you want from vacation are sand, sunshine, and golf!
We play here on the last day of our trip and wish it had been the first so we could play again. The course was in great shape and the layout was challenging but fair. The greens were some of the truest I've played. Already planning a return trip for this fall.
It played well, the staff was friendly and the pace was great and the views were spectacular! Well worth the cost!
Played as a twosome the second week of June 2014 and really liked the course. The layout was challenging, but also fair for all levels of players. The greens had recently been verti-cut, so there was a top dressing of sand on all of them. That, however, did not effect the ball stoppage or the speed of the greens. I felt that they rolled true, with some challenging undulation; they were also quite fast despite the sand. I paid about $75 for 18 holes with a cart and range balls. It was a good value for resort golf. There were a few bunkers that had standing water collecting in them, which I'm sure is an ongoing issue with bunkers at sea level. I felt that was the only maintenance issue which needed to be addressed.
