On vacation and on a date night in downtown Mobile, we stopped in here. Lovws the variety of classucs, new releases, books signed by authors, and reasonable prices. 3 levels of books; you are bound to leave with a few!
A gem of a bookstore with a nice selection of classics, new releases and regional literature! Don't miss out on the opportunity to take a free book home to preview when you spend a certain amount. Look for the rack to the right of the register :)
This place has two (and a half?) floors of used books. The staff is attentive and will guide you to sections. There is a neat collection of post cards and humorous birthday cards, as well as a few new books available for purchase. The front window displays are great reflections of ongoing events. They do a great job tying books into their themes. The only negatives I have, is that like all downtown older buildings, it is not easily accessible.
Nice little bookshop in downtown Mobile, where you can find the unexpected. It's always nice to browse.
I also visit here when I'm downtown. They have a much different and more local variety than the chain stores. Some of their prices are a tad high in my opinion, but I always find something that I'm happy with.
I had some time to kill while exploring Mobile and spent a half an hour wandering this book shop. It has a nice selection of books to choose from and the prices cannot be beat. The owner and staff were friendly but did not hover over me while I browsed. Great find in Mobile.
Neat collection of books; very friendly staff. The kids' selection is very small, and there isn't much in the way of seating. No food and drinks allowed, so plan ahead.
I needed a book for my flight back home and stopped into this cute store. It's two stories tall and has vintage, used, and new books. Most of the used books were for sale for $2, $4, or $6. I got a first edition of John Steinbeck's "East of Eden" for $6. Upstairs had neat Edgar Allan Poe t-shirts. The employees who worked there were very helpful in suggesting books when I wasn't sure what I was looking for.
Everyone hyped this up but to me (an avid reader) it was more of an old bookstore and not much more. you will probably walk by walking the downtown area so take a look, but do not bother spending time to visit if not on your planned route.
I love books, and was here for business so took a trip to check out thsi store. The Children's section is lacking , as well as what I would call the pre teen type chapter books. Not really much of anything there. There are some older kids books upstairs, which I found a nice old book for my mom. There are some books about Alabama History, which might be nice if you are from here. Not a whole lot from surrounding other southern states though. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was a nice stop in my trip, but nothing fantastic.
and I could have stayed all day in this store. All books are grouped together so if you know what type of book you are looking for you won't have a problem. Good place to spend on a rainy day
We always drop into bookstores in our travels, never knowing what we will discover. The books here are well organized. The owner offered to get us others via his internet service.
...if your interests lie in a theological direction you're not going to find much. We like to look for books on Catholic Christianity and all they had were a few old Fulton Sheen books that we already own. On the other hand, my husband also enjoys books on American history and they did have quite a good selection of those.
I stopped in here on the way back to my hotel one evening and needed a wheelbarrow to get out. This place has books not seen in decades right alongside newly printed editions. If you are searching for a book, especially one on local flavor or cooking, this is the first place I would look. The staff is knowledgable about what they have on the shelves and very helpful. Many of the books are color-coded for pricing and are either $2, $4, or $6.
I always find plenty of books for gifts and to add to my collection. I could spend hours in the Book Shop.
