Adorable store, kind informative staff, showed us where it all becomes syrup. See pails on trees and sample some delicious syrup and products made from it. Great place for some cool take home gifts or ship them direct....they pack! Good advice as I put mine in the wrong bag and it got taken at the airport....

We stopped here to see the facility where they manufacture birch syrup and other products. There's just a short little tour to the back room, where you can taste the different grades of syrup. They have a shop in front that sells the syrups, yummy caramels, birch brittle, berry syrups, and even ice cream. We bought several items, and had ice cream sundaes with birch caramel topping. Yum! A bit pricey, but one of only three producers of birch syrup (in the world? in the U.S.?) so they tell us. Kind of like maple syrup, but a slightly different taste. No maple trees in Alaska, but plenty of birch trees. Made for a nice 30-minute stop along the way.
