Easy marked trails . buetiful scenery while we hiked thru freshly fallen snow.animal tracks everywhere.
Great flat trails and more challenging ones. A snowshoe heaven!Great birding. Wonderful for an hour hike or an all day excursion
We had a morning in Lenox before leaving, so we visited the sanctuary after reading Trip Advisor reviews. Quite a disappointment. There was much hype about beavers, but we saw none. In fact, the only animals we saw were one frog, one bird and a lot of mosquitoes. Trails are well marked and there are easy walks, but there are better places to spend time.
Quiet and beutiful. Spotted some beavers and birds. Well marked trailes and easy walk.We did not go to the top so we will be coming again someday, hopefully soon :)
It was a beautiful autumn morning so we saw it at its best. We were there for a couple of hours but you could take much longer walks if you wanted. If you went for longer it would be worth taking some refreshments -we could not find any available but that is not what we went for after all.
Pretty beaver ponds on all level trials, easy walking, well marked and beautiful surrounding nature.
You can't spend $5 any better than here. The hike can be easy or a bit challenging if you like. Very well preserved trails with lots of natural wildlife to see. We are not bird watchers but we saw many different types of birds. Make sure you are there around dusk to see the beavers come out.
Great spot. Well worth the small admission fee. We hiked the most challenging trail, and it sure had some tricky bits, got the heart pumping. Nice view/photo opp at the top. Has walking trails for all fitness/ ability levels. I would go back again.
Located off the main drag, this sanctuary was a very pleasant way to spend a few hours, and a wonderful way to take in some fresh air. There are trails for every level of hiker from casual to serious.
Beautiful and peaceful walk on the trails. There are trails for every level making it very accessible to everyone. We did not see much wildlife; however, we were told by a fellow hiker that they saw a black bear along the trail. Needless to say, I was happy we didn't have our own encounter!
We took the ledges path up to the summit and it was a moderately steep hike up. Definitely wear good footwear! Nice views at the top with a bench to rest on. Took an unmarked trail back down, thinking it would link up with other trails but it never did (our fault) and we somehow ended up on the other side of the mountain completely! Trails for every level here.
My husband and I spent the morning walking around the property in the well groomed trails. It was a great way to spend a day. We saw many woodland critters, chipmunks, birds, frogs, turtles, and a rabbit, but were a little disappointed that we didn't see any beavers. We saw the dams that they built, but sadly no beavers. Maybe next time. We will be back to visit again!
In the midst of all our cultural activities, sitting and standing rather still became a bit much. This beautiful preserve afforded the movement we needed to reinvigorate!
We only did a few trails- Pike's pond, Yokun, and Alexander, just to see if we could see beavers. We saw neither hide nor hair but apparently the scat I'd been seeing as we walked around the pond was Bear- he was relatively young, we think, but he was bright eyed, super still, and very alert, when we caught sight of him staring at us, possibly haven woken from sleeping in the reeds juuuuuuust off the trail. That was quite the sight...I was happy we were so near the end.!!
Really enjoyed this hike up to the top of Lenox Mtn. Thought it would be a quick jaunt, but it was a 840 foot vertical hike taking a bit of time to reach the top. Great view of the area from there. Well marked trails and well maintained area.
