The second you open the door to go in all you can smell is urine. The rug is so old and dirty it smells. There was not heat in the place until 9:30 so you had to sit there with your coat on and freeze. I swear they put cheap booze in the absolute bottles then charge you for the absolute. Had one drink and had such a headache, only get them with cheap booze. By 10:30 there was maybe 12 people in the place and it wasn't the band because they where the only good thing about this place. Not worth going to.
New ownership doesn't change the clientele. Same dumpy looking crowd goes week after week. I go for a few laughs and to get out once in a while. The dress code is MORE relaxed and you wouldn't believe how some of the people show up. I saw a grown man walking around wearing a hoodie. People line up for the buffet and pile up their plates like they haven't eaten all week, very classy. Some guy does jumping jacks on the dance floor and some woman does ballet. Was much better when Dick Syatt ran it years ago.
Recently had a problem with a guy. Management told the guy to leave, but was able to return the following weekend. Management agreed that the individual has problems. Several people have spoken to management/Security, but they seam to allow this guy to come in again. Women's need to feel safe.
I went to Village Green on a Friday night, when it is singles night. But no one told me it was senior citizens night! I am 29 years old and went with my friend who is in her fifties. I had a horrible time. The music wasn't bad so I was trying to make the best of it and danced. But the older men made fun of me and seemed insecure about themselves, so told me I was stiff. I felt as if I was at a high school reunion or something. I guess I forgot my AARP card that night. I would not recommend this place for dancing, unless you are over the age of seventy.
