All the houses, museums and silver exhibit have the same quality of tour explanations. They are period focused with many of the artifacts from the area. It takes visiting all the houses to see the full story. Buying a few books at the book store helps with the memories and retaining the information presented.

This home was part of my visit to historic homes in old Deerfield. As with the others this home has interesting furnishings of the period with interesting story of its inhabitants

In the 1890's, Alice Baker bought this house and saved it from ruin. A teacher from Boston, who had relatives in Deerfield and had spent time in Deerfield in her younger years, she restored the house. Since she wanted to experience colonial living, there was NO electricity, plumbing or any other modern conveniences. Today Frary House is part of Historic Deerfield. It can be visited for $5.00. You must take a tour which is given on the hour and lasts about 30 minutes. You can also purchase a daily admission to Historic Deerfield for $12.00 and visit all of the buildings owned by Historic Deerfield. Better yet, two can join Historic New England for $60.00 and visit all the buildings as many times as you want during your membership year.Historic Deerfield is a great place to visit. All the houses are gems.

In June 2007 while visiting our daughter in Southwick MA, we took a tour of Historic Deerfield. I took a picture of the outside of the Frary House/Barnard Tavern. We went inside and while the family was viewing some artifacts, I went into an inner room, where there were no windows. Took a picture of the wall, and when the picture was reviewed there was something else in the picture. I will not reveal what I and a couple of paranormal investigators saw, will leave it up to you. Also in the picture of the outside, look under the porch and the shadow and possibly state what you see.
