always have films only shown in boston, kendall sq. and west newton.Reminds me of the old Brattle Theatre in Harvard Sq.Show independent films, documentaries and opera.Small, comfortable, friendly place to see the best new shows.
Arty shows only, and a sense of 150 years of history just by watching a movie. A real small-town feel, in comfort.
Love the feeling of a small, community theater. They often feature wonderful movies. It is a theater in which I feel safe if I go alone.
We love this small theatre. This is the place to avoid the crowds, loud teens, and cold environment of the multi-plex. Tuesday movies are half price, and they always run some of the more independent-type films. It is one of the few theaters that have been able to switch to digital.
Teh Loring Hall cinema located in historic Hingham Square is a throw back to going to the movies in the early and mid 20th century.. Truly America., yet recent modernization of the sound system and seating has furher enhanced it's appeal and must go for visitors or tourists who want to take in a recently released picture..
Went there last week. I love the old theater. The woman selling (Janice) the tickets awas very nice as was the gentleman at the concession counter. We saw the movie "Chef". It was funny and we all enjoyed it. We look forward to the next movie coming there.
If you do, too, you will love Loring Hall! Old fashioned and New Englandy and the seniors love it, too! A well mannered crowd for sure!
This is a single screen cinema that is in downtown Hingham. It is in Loring Hall. The building is old but has very comfortable seating. I like this theatre very much as it is not the usual 6 or 10 chain screens.
Instead of sitting in a closet sized theater in the cineplex, this is one theater showing one movie at a time. Some might call it an art-house. It shows movies that one might normally have to go to Newton or Boston or even New York to see.Matinees are $6.00. The seats are comfy, there are cupholders, lots of free parking in the lot out back. The staff is great and they serve Green Mountain Coffee by the Keurig brewed cup.Its a gem, my favorite theater on the south shore.
Nice old fashioned theater showing high quality movies. In the town of Hingham you can walk to Nona 's ice cream , Snug Irish pub for casual food, Tosca cafe, Tosca and Square Cafe. The last two are fine dining. Really nice movie and dinner location.
Great single-screen venue (with a balcony!) makes you feel like you are going back in time. Reasonable prices, snacks are also classics. Acoustics are spotty, but well worth the trip!
Love this little old fashioned movie house. Only place locally to see small independent films without going into Boston. Tuesdays are bargain nights. A half dozen places within walking distance to go for coffee, a cocktail or dinner. Quaint little downtown area just to go for a stroll.
great movies, small independents as well as some blockbusters. Nice downtown area to get dinner or drinks before and after
Great place to watch the most recent movies without going to the big mall theaters, it is always clean and friendly staff
OK, so the roof doesn't seem to be entirely waterproof... in a way it adds to the quaintness. But is ambiance is so much better than the movie factories without identity, even when these show great movies. And how about, after having had a great movie experience, stepping out on a wonderful street, walking down the street to the left, and walking into Nona's for some truly awesome, home-made ice cream? Who cares if it is single digits out there... this is New England!
