Paul and Kathy are amazing! We stopped at their home/maple farm on the way through Andover on a Saturday when they were boiling/giving tours of their maple farm. We had such a great time! They are not maple producers as a full time job but do this simply out of love for their community and interest in preserving the history and fun of making maple products. They do a really fun, very family friendly presentation about how trees are tapped, the history of maple products in the northeast, how their equipment works and how they make their syrups, candy, etc. The tour is a little less than an hour and includes about 8 samples, and answers as many questions as you can ask. They have many products for sale directly from their farm including several grades of syrup, maple candy, maple cream (amazing!), and maple sugar. You will definitely want some! It is obvious how much they love sharing this art form with their neighbors and visitors. Unfortunately, just due to expense and obvious time commitment, 2015 will be the last year of maple farming for Paul and Kathy. Try to get out there while you can!! So much fun !!
This small scale maple syrup farm was outstanding. The tour given explains the process of producing maple syrup in extreme detail. My wife and I were so suprised to learn how time consuming and scientific the process is. Paul and Kathy, the owners, were so good at explaining things and handing out samples of their products. Taste testing was a great suprise to us; we got to try the different ways maple is used. They gave out taste samples of maple butter, maple sugar, maple ice cream, maple candy, and maple sap itself from three stages of the process (off the tree, half boiled, and final product). We truly loved this tour.Their prices are very good, considering what it takes to make the final product. Sadly, this farm will not be producing any more maple after this season, so if you were thinking of going, this year is your last chance. You must go!
