My boyfriend and I went for an overnight getaway and massage. I've done other reviews for the Inn and the Left Bank restaurant. The spa is not the best I've been to, by any means, but it's not awful. It is in a lovely setting, surrounded by woods. You enter directly into the pool/jacuzzi area, which is a little strange, but OK. Luke met us at the door, and was very friendly and helpful. The locker rooms are TINY, barely enough room for 3 people to be in at once, but it was clean and seemed fairly secure. Both the men's and the women's locker room empty into a communal room, and the treatment rooms, sauna and steam room - co-ed apparently - are off that room. It was nice that my boyfriend and I could enjoy the steam room and sauna together, but it would have been awkward if there were other people there. I didn't bring a bathing suit, so we didn't use the pool or jacuzzi, and I wore a towel in the sauna and steam room.I had a hot stone massage, which was nice - not the best, but nice. There were a few things that could have improved the experience. 1) a bolster under my knees while face up, and under my ankles while face down - I've never NOT had that, and it got a little uncomfortable with a 90 minute massage. 2) start face down, end face up, instead of the other way around - ending face down ensures that you are walking around with unsightly creases on your face from the face cradle and that you have nasal congestion for a while after the massage. 3) when I say "I've got a spot in my back that's been bothering me lately," don't say "it's probably the exercise you do" - say "I'll spend a little more time on that place then." 4) turn down the music to a soothing background level.
I just returned today from a Girlfriend Weekend there for my girlfriend's upcoming wedding. There were about 15 or so of us. Oh my gosh...what a place! So perfect...so elegant! The staff was so polite and helpful! Our rooms were lovely and the décor was just beautiful! The food was excellent! The spa experience was fantastic! I can't wait for another get-together there!
Masage was amazing. Staff was great. Food was top shelf. Rooms were very comfortable and elegant. Jazz band was a nice touch at brunch.
The massage was awesome.........the facial was okay but not thebest we have had at our local spas. The pool and the Jacuzziwere relaxing and well maintained. The Spa lunch included inour weekend package was very good.
Went to this spa being very apprehensive on the reviews I have read about this place. Let me just say that this was THE best place I have gone to for an afternoon of relaxation. First up was the body scrub which I could've been all set after having that because it was the most relaxing thing I have ever done. You start off with this amazing coconut lime body scrub, then you move into your own little bath with jets that just soothe your every muscle. Then they apply this silky moisturizer and my skin has never felt so soft. After that I had a wonderful facial with an absolutely wonderful face and head massage. Finished it off with a fantastic body massage. I was in heaven! This place is a must!!
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments regarding our spa. We are disappointed that our spa did not meet your expectations and that you felt our photos are misleading. All of our photos of our spa building and pool have been taken by our staff. Being located in New England, each season brings a different look and feel to our spa building as we are nestled in the woodlands. We will review our description on our web site to ensure that future guests do not feel mislead and again, we appreciate your feedback.
I had two very bad experiences with the spa. After the first one, I comtemplated writing a review by decided to give it another shot. After a second bad experience, here I am. I bought several Groupon as the spa as Xmas gifts. Prio to buying the groupons and again upon scheduling the services, I was told by the manager that he would allow me to use them on a weekend. In full disclosure, it does say it is for the weekdays, but he said since they were not busy it would not be a problem. He planned to call me back when it was all scheduled. THe following day I called back and they did not have time to take my call. The third time I called the owner answered. When I explained what I was trying to do, she said that is absolutely NOT a possibility and I would not be allowed to use the groupon during the weekend. I explained prior to buying them I was told I would be able to. She would not honor the managers deal and was not customer friendly at all. There was no attempt to accomodate anything on the weekends. She went on to say that when her staff know it is a groupon, they will not come in on a weekend for them. She stated she would call me back the next day, as we both agreed our conversation was not productive. She called back with the number to groupon to return them. I forgot to mention that in addition to using the groupons, I was also scheduling 300.00 in additional services to be paid, which obviously they did not want my business. I choose not to initially return the groupsons, figuring I would see if I could find a time to put some of them to use during the week, which again, in full disclosure, it did say that. I called on a Monday asking for the appointments. I requested a specific day in the afternoon. They told me it would not be a problem. Instead of keeping me on hold, they would schedule it all and call me back. NO ONE called back. I called back Tuesday and was told that the person was not in that day, but they would email her and find out and call me back... NO ONE called back. I called back Wendnesday and was again told that she was not in by the manager, but he was able to see the notations in the schedule book, so he would find out and call me back... NO ONE called back. The following day I left for work travel and my husband called and was told they would call him back.... No call. On friday, he was able to talk to someone who scheduled the appointments, but were in the morning, when we said we could not get there until the afternoon and there were only half of the appointments we requested. He told them he would let them know. The only time they did call back was the a day before the appointments, requesting a credit card to secure the appointments. We let them know we would not be coming and explained that we found the customer service horrific. This is certainly not a way to get customers!
My wife and I have spent several nights at the spa over the past few years and have dined at the restaurant many times. The food is always excellent. On October 7, 2013 we attended a wine tasting evening and purchased a case of various wines that were presented. Two weeks later we returned to pick up our purchase. We also made an evening out of the trip and had dinner in the restaurant. The service was horrible that evening. In the middle of placing our order, the waiter actually excused himself to attend to another couple that had just arrived. Coffee after dinner was cold. That waiter was good enough to remove it from the table, but did not replace it until I asked another waiter to do so. When we returned home with our wine purchases, we noticed that 3 of the bottles we had ordered had been replaced with a different vintage. We had ordered 2009 vintages which were replaced by a 2010 and 2011 vintage. We called to correct the error and spoke to a manager who said they would get back to us. We are still waiting. The food is excellent, the service is certainly not its equal.
My Spa experience here was excellent. They have a bubble bath in the body scrub room so that you can have a wonderful soak after your treatment. This is a plus since many spas I have been to have showers to rinse. The tub is more relaxing. They offer a Chardonnay oil for their massages. My skin has never been so soft! They offer a spa lunch which is delicious. The only thing I didn't care for is that both men and women share the spa's common room.
