Hi! Sylvia here from The Butterfly Place. Thank-you for your review. I think that you gave a description that is helpful. It can be busy on week-ends. Week day afternoons tend to be quieter. As far as price, we receive no grants or government subsidies. Our customers are our only support.I'm glad that you visited!
I took both of my granddaughters on separate occasions, with friends; and the girls, roughly 10 years old, loved the place. It is compact; but that way you get to see all the creatures. They have an excellent exhibit of the metamorphosis of the butterfly and a large selection of them. They also have some cute birds and Vietnamese Quail. Last September 7th I took a young pianist from Ukraine to see it, and she, an adult, loved it! It is specially exciting when a butterfly lands on some part of you and stays there for a while, posing for pictures! Luckily the girls are not the type who want every souvenir, as they are mostly made in China and not cheap! All in all it is a great place to spend a couple of lazy hours.

From now until 2/13/15 we have anonline special....buy four tickets for only $25, $6.25/ticket vs. $12 for adults. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary open in 2015!!!Thanks Again.
Beautiful butterflies but rather expensive - grandchildren (age 7 and 10) enjoyed it very much - 10 year old girl could have lasted well over an hour - seven year old lost attention at 45 minutes. Well kept -- professional to answer questions.
We purchased two different sets of tickets on 2 separate groupon accounts. When we first got here the manager was going to make us pay again but once we explained the situation we we're let in. The area itself was very nice, lots of different species of butterflies and very pretty. However the area was very small. There were about 7 or 8 families visiting and it felt very crowded. If this had been our fist visit to a butterfly house I may have been impressed. However we have been to several others so this was nothing spectacular. I probably would have felt ripped off if I has to pay full price but since we only paid about half it was a nice way stop over. However if you traveling Magic Wings in South Deerfield is a better option.
If you can tolerate the humidity and parents who are not mindful all the time ( the latter not always in attendance) but LOVE the beauty of wings aloft and sometimes setting on your shoulder or an extension of it, then the wonder and bliss of this place is food for your soul. The type of butterflies differ from time to time so each visit is a new experience. I go when I want to partake not only in the spectacular array of winged creatures but for reminder of the delicate and gentle life gracing this planet. The butterflies are from many parts of the world so being in this aviary is akin to being in ones own travel film.
The place is small. And I mean SMALL! There is one room covered with glass roof where the butterflies and a couple of white little birds coexist. Don't remember how much I paid the entrance fee (one can find it on their website) but I remember the feeling that I overpaid. There are also few rooms with dusty glass display cases, few dirty windows and overpriced souvenir store. Everything seems old and dirty. Kids have to be very careful not to step on butterflies sitting on the paths so grown ups have to correct them all the time (or the staff will do so). They even give you a sheet of paper to play a scavenger hunt but the place is boring after five minutes. Bring the camera with you and be prepared that the place is very hot and humid. The whole visit will take you about half an hour.
This is amazing place to visit during cold winter days... You would dive into the summer time with many kind of butterflies, parrots and other birds... Chill music will relax you and place in good mood... Place is not too big, so it may happened to be crowdy... It is about 80F inside and about 90% humidity - so be prepared... Take your camera with you!
The name says it all. Lots of other birds also live in with the butterfly's. Lots of flowers and trees make this a great place to just sit on one of the stone benches and take in God's beauty. The people working there are very nice and helpful. Small but a great quality activity for all ages at a very reasonable price. Just make sure you bring your camera/mobile device, etc. I had a Blue Morphoe land on my hand!!!
This is a wonderful place to visit especially with children. It's not everyday that you can enter a space where butterflies fly around you and land on your finger or shoulders. The variety is a wonder to observe.
The butterflies are lovely and there are lots and lots of them. The educational section is great, but might not be interesting for young and/or active kids. The Butterfly Place is small, so on a busy weekend, it's crowded and loud. It's also quite warm, which is necessary for the butterflies, but dress accordingly if you don't like being hot. They do offer special rates for home schooled children and senior citizens.
I hosted my daughter's birthday here. They were very friendly and helpful. They supplied us with cups, plates, tablecloths, and a dining area. The staff were wonderful and the cost was very fair. I would definitely use them again.
If you need a dose of Spring after all this snow...please visit this place! Beautiful, friendly staff to answer any questions!!
The Butterfly Place is small and somewhat rustic but what a splendid experience of butterflies! They play peaceful music (I went to a store afterwards and purchased the CD) and if you sit or stand very still the butterflies will land on you. So many colors and so beautiful! You can feel the air move when they fly past you.Truly a great place to learn about butterflies, to meditate and photograph them. Also, if you live within a certain distance of the attraction, your local library may have passes for you to get in.
