Just wow. You can visit, revisit and revisit again and the murals around Frederick will tickle your fancy. The Community Bridge is an extensive, impressive example of the smaller pieces all around town. Walk through twice just so you catch the nuances. Then come back later and you'll see something else totally new.
Definitely worth a visit as a stand-alone event. Amble along the canal, and spend some time contemplating the beauty of the artist creation around you.
The art work painted on and under the bridge is 3D and changes as you approach it. There is an art museum adjacent with nice exhibits. The bridge crosses Carrol Creek, a nice walking venue.
No matter how many times I visit the bridge while walking along Carroll Creek, I never cease to find new things in the mural. If you see portrait of a girl angel that looks a bit distorted, read the sign next to it to learn the secret of seeing the picture in the proper perspective. It amazes me how the artist could be up close to paint the portrait yet give it the perspective that is only apparent when you are viewing it from a specific window in the adjacent Delaplaine Arts Center.
Lovely place. The bridge and all the area around this... A sample of cute community work and care... A concrete thing painted 3d to look cool. Pics are relevant.
Visit Frederick historic downtown area and be prepared to be amazed! These bridges, made of stone, all span the man-made Carroll Creek and encompass about 50 square blocks. Although the bridge material is mostly smooth, the murals painted on the undersides, front, and back of each are really amazing! All of the murals are painted in a 3D style. There are plenty of photo opportunities here, as well as plenty of benches to enjoy the surrounding scenery upon. After the bridges experience, visitors can visit the nearby Museum of Frederic County History, just a few yards away, which houses one-of-a kind exhibits, programs, gardens, and many interesting items to buy.
Located on the pedestrian walkway along Carroll Creek, this bridge is a work of art and a pleasure to the eye. It's such fun to see how the painting really does trick the eye.
This is so unique! An artist who was very talented has painted many murals on the bridge area of Carroll Creek. The creek itself is well worth seeing. You can walk a long time and explore the surrounding areas of the creek and always be in the downtown Frederick area.
This gem in the heart of Frederick, MD is something which must be seen and not read about. I am unable to express how wonderful this mural is -- all I can say is that if you don't take the time to visit, walk along the entire bridge and both sides, more than once (otherwise you'll miss things, believe me), you have missed one of the most ingenious and delightful art forms you will ever see. Go!
What a lovely way to spend an evening, walking along the water, admiring the water plants and checking out the mural. There is a lot to see in the mural, and it is such a beautiful area of Frederick.
This mural is so real looking you have to touch it to see if it is. The murals he has done around town are the same. This is a beautiful setting for his mural.
A nice little walk next to Carroll Creek. We visit the Bridge mural several times per year. Also visit the local owned shops. There is an antique row next to the creek.. Plan to spend several hours downtown. Something for everyone. Also visit the Delaplaine arts center
I don't think this is historic because it is so very new. But it is great to see. A great idea first championed years ago by ex-Mayor Young demonstrates that local governments can execute great urban plans that open up completely new environments for people of all ages. The mural is great to see, but that's almost an aside after you've seen it a dozen times. Lots of people hang out on warm summer evenings for wandering around and talking to others. They could get some better food places here, but what we have is at least a start.Go ahead and spend some time downtown! Eat dinner at one of the better restaurants (Acacia, Brewers Alley, Firestones) or grab a casual meal at Wags or Griffs. Then wander.
I enjoy taking all my friends and family that visit Frederick to come see this mural! I think it is truly beautiful and encompasses what community is all about and what Frederick is like. Everytime I go I see something I have never seen before. It is something that is kind of off the beaten path, but it totally worth seeking out.
