Laurel Park has been around for a lot of years. It has had a couple of facelifts and it is much better than it used to be. However, the crowd there at times can still be a bit seedy as are some of the buildings and furnishings. On a good weather day it is nice to go out to the rail and finish line and get nearer the horses and the fields are much, much better now with increased purses dues to slot monies from MD LIVE. The food outlets are average , but on the whole the staff at Laurel are glad you come out. I still cannot believer they still charge you for admittance and programs. That is just crazy if they want to try and grow the sport. Want an opinion to the management - stop doing that and add some lights for night racing - that would bring back some fans.

My son-in-law is a jockey so we've been to Laurel Park often. It's a old racetrack that is in need of much renovation. Now that betting can be done over the Internet, there are not always large crowds at the park unless it's a major race day. Many of the people going to the track appear like they should be using their money to buy food and pay rent, rather than betting on the horses. When we go it's only to watch the races my son-in-law is in, then we leave.

This is where i grew up, where i learned everything i know, my home away from home. I was half raised here and in jr high started working there. Laurel Park is my heart and soul. i love this place and highly recomend it to all.

Located in a suburb a train ride away from Baltimore. Laurel Racetrack offers a quiet setting with all the action of racing and great eats to make a weekend getaway fun for all. At first glance Laurel looks rundown but upon closer inspection the buildings and surrounding grounds with well trimmed trees and colorful flowers brings the beauty of this track to days of past. The Grandstand and Clubhouse offer food fare for all appetites. While visiting we ate lunch at the newest restaurant Tips, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service add to a moderate priced meal. The real beauty of this track would have to be the Paddock an 18 sided building that brings the spectator within a few feet of the thoroughbreds. The feel and excitement of being so close makes you feel like an owner. The rail also brings you close to action as the winner circle and finish line are within arms reach. I would recommend this track just because the employees work hard to make you feel like a winner if when you have a bad day. Good luck.

During the Bourbon and Brew festival, there was plenty to keep you busy. They had a wagering 101 class, private betting windows, food trucks, and racing.Everyone should walk down to the paddock and visit the horse, they are beautiful animals. The facility was clean and kept up, the restrooms were clean and someone was always checking on them.We would go back again.

I love horses. When I was young I used to volunteer at a different race track. Swampy ground lies on two sides of this track. On many mornings a light ground fog is visible. It seems like the horses are galloping across clouds. I walk in off street and watch the horses exercise. I don't believe in gambling but I might gamble a little if I thought we were about to lose this pretty track. During racing season there is a small fee for parking.

It's a nice place for adults if you enjoy a race track atmosphere. It is not a place for children UNLESS they are having a "family day" event. We attended the family day there and it was really nice. Clowns, balloons, food, singing, games, etc. There are a lot of different kinds of people there, so watch your surroundings....there are live races going on and that was kinda cool. The children were allowed to visit the horses and talk to the jockeys.

Homeless people sleeping everywhere within the park! Very scary looking. Not somewhere I would want to take my family!

This was a very special July 4th holiday. I am a USARMY (sp4) Honorably Discharged Veteran and this is always a special holiday for us vets. But as a senior citizen I was also celebrating the one (1) year of reuniting with my JR High School sweetheart. Our First prom date, she was 14 and I was 15.We sat by Laurel Lake in MD and watched fire works on a blanket. We kissed at times and it caused the "SMART PHONE" generation be so focused on us that the image of us kissing by now are probably out there in cyber space. We really gave them a show at times. Sometimes hotter than the fireworks being displayed so brilliantly on the Laurel Lake. I shall never forget this 4th of July celebrating my wonderful country and my first LOVE.

Laurel lakes is one of the best locations to go if you want a peaceful and quiet walk/jogging/running time. The park is quite big with a kids playground and a Mexican grill inside the park. Boating is available during Summer time and weekends. Very scenic and very beautiful. If you are in Laurel spend your evenings here!!!!
