phuza moya private game reserve

We chose phuza moya due to all the activities which it offered such as Quadbiking, horsetrails, walks etc however we were very disappointed in how controlled these activities were. The horse trail was incredibly slow for a beginners ride and the quadbiking was also too slow and restricted to be any fun. Food was not very african and service was ok. I do give credit to the accomodation which was very nicely done. modern, private, clean and very comfortable with lovely views. This lodge is aimed more for the south african who is not seeking the full 'african bush experience'. If youre travelling with a family and are on a budget, its a good deal. Reasonable prices for what you get. Ask about the self catering lodge.

I have stayed at this private game reserve twice in 2002 and 2004, and have nothing negative to say about it. The hospitality and food was fantastic, rangers very informative and friendly. We were utterly spoilt! The ride around the reserve on quad bikes and horsed were great experiences. They always say you shouldn't go back to somewhere as the second time will never be better than the first, but this is not the case. I will return, possibly next year as plans are already made for this. If you are looking for excellent value for money, peace and quiet and that away from it all feeling then this is the place. We were persuaded in 2004 to only book two nights here and travel on to Nottens which I have to say whilst being almost twice as expensive, only offered half the experience. The fact that Nottens shared its grounds with many other lodges meant that if a pride of lions was spotted then 5 or 6 land rovers immediately descended and you ended up queuing to see!!!! That doesn't happen at Phuza Moya!!!
