Thank you so much for this trip. Our best day in zanzibar. Captain Morgan and Bicardi, you're the best. Great snorkeling, good food, friendly staff. Would advise all to go on this tour. Bafana bafana
Highly recommended day trip. Delicious seafood lunch and a day of swimming and snorkeling in beautiful waters.
I reviewed this tour on the web and read all the reviews. Then contacted Eleanor to make the arrangements for my Safari Blue Tour and was such a pleasure dealing with her.On 23/02/2015 we where picked up from the hotel and taken to the venue. We were warmly welcomed by the staff. The staff explained to us the way forward.Once we got onto the boat the actual fun began. The boat guide managed to spot dolphins for us, which was amazing to see and my son was over the moon seeing them so close.During this time the guides gave us fresh coconut water to drink and thereafter cut the coconut for us to taste. Absolutely divine. The snorkeling area that we were taken to was absolutely amazing and thereafter to the lunch venue. The food was amazing as well and well prepared. The guides that we had where fantastic and a pleasure to be with.
This water safari was included in the Serengeti to Zanzibar trip I took with Tauck Tours in February. After safari by land and hot air balloon, this was a fun way to change things up. I loved sitting up front on the dhow (traditional sailing boat) as we cruised to the snorkel site. The water was an incredible shade of blue, at times you couldn't tell where the sea ended and the sky began. I have snorkeled in Hawaii and the Caribbean, and the snorkeling on this trip was pretty average by comparison, but for me, that did not in any way detract from the trip. The crew on the dhow was capable and took care of us. Water, juice and soft drinks were available. After snorkeling we landed at a sandy beach, where fruit and beverages waited, and we swam in the ocean for a bit. Then we jumped in the dhow and headed for the picnic site. The menu included rolls, rice, chicken and spiney lobster, which were available without limit. Several beverages were included, wine was available to purchase. We were then treated to many different fruits native to the area. After lounging for a bit after lunch, we headed back to Zanzibar. It was a fun, relaxing way to spend a day.
This trip could be great with an engaged boat crew and guide but ours was average. The scenery was incedible, really beautiful and the sandbar which we atopped on for a snach of fresh fruit and coconut was stunning, for these reasons the trip left us with a lasting positive impression. Rather unfortunately, the crew on our boat seemed bored and jaded which may be understandable but not really acceptable as their clients are paying for and expecting more from them.I had an injured wrist and needed help getting on and off the boat but this was not readily forthcoming, I had to keep asking and felt I was a bit of a nuisance. On this day it was rather choppy, so snorkelling was not great, but of course that was nobodys fault. Also, prepare to get soaked by tje spray as the crew rush back at the end of the trip, there is no shelter from this on the boat!!That sais, this is a good trip.... I really think our experienc was not as good as it could have been because of the crew......on balance, I would recommend it and I have got some good memories from it.
This popular and reasonably priced day out is well recommended . It probabably doesn't match what u would see diving further north on the island but still offers a bit of everything
I've been on this your twice now with friends visiting me on Zanzibar. I think it's excellent value and plan to take more friends in future. We saw dolphins (two species) both times. The snorkeling was great with plenty of fish and coral. The food is amazing. The buffet, that you can revisit for more helpings (and we did), consists of fresh grilled fish, chicken and lobster with rice/beans/polenta cakes and relish. You can also have as many soft drinks and beers as you like. Dessert is loads of exotic fruit and amarula coffee. One thing I would say, book directly with safari blue, not through your hotel. Speaking to people on the day it seemed like hotels were adding quite a bit of commission. All in all a really fun day for friends, family or couples.
I highly enjoyed my tour in Zanzibar with safari blue. They were an A-class operator - the dhow boats are lovely, they give beer and soda for the journey and plenty of snacks. The snorkeling is gorgeous - beautiful reefs teeming with wildlife. The guides are knowledgeable and helpful. They also do a special training for beginners and life jackets are available. They take the boat to a couple beautiful swimming holes as well, with a couple hours of relaxing and lunch on one of the most beautiful islands I have ever seen. It's the most I've paid for snorkeling, but worth every penny.
We had a marvelous, heavenly day in Zanzibar all arranged by the fabulous Eleanor. The boat ride, the beaches, the food, the snorkeling were absolutely magical. Our guide Said, who had once hosted Prince Charles, was delightful and very funny. Zanzibar is paradise and Safari Blue lets you experience it fully.
We were absolutely blown away by the underwater beauty of coral and fish. Snorkelling was amazing!!!! The trip on the dhow and the beach braai was a bonus on a wonderful days snorkelling.
We had couple of conversations wtih Eleanor before we could reach there and were kept up to the word.Brilliant experience with Captain Morgan:)Food/Beaches/Snorkels and the island especially parked for lunch. All is good and great scenary.Crew were smiles all day long which is a relief.Nice a time to meet multicultural folks from all walks of life and to spend time with them.Snorkels were fun and with no swiming skills,i really did enjoy it:)Beer to add with was more fun than ever.Just a word to add; When we segregated in to Teams, the boss who was allocating the Captains and Team went on a call twice during the briefing:):):):)I found it hilarious but folks from different cultures did not appreciate the gesture.So...Otherwise,brilliant day and would do it again in a heart beat guys!!!
If you do nothing else in Zanzibar, make sure you do Safari Blue. As an absolute first time snorkeler, I found the crew to be very professional, and patient. And what an introduction to snorkeling it turned out to be.I didn't know where to look as there were just so many fish, and found myself just wanting to spend the entire day underwater. But, the promise of a buffet barbecue ensured I eventually left the water. And I was not disappointed. There was plenty food - banana curry, barbecued (or braaied as we refer to it) chicken, prawns and crayfish followed by a spread of tropical food - and I went back for seconds. Others at my table went back for thirds and fourths, and there was still a mound of food left. The afternoon ended with a sail back to land - with the motor off and sails down.I could not have asked for a better day...
This was a very well organised day trip with some great snorkelling, a super lunch, a great swim in a natural mangrove pool and a continual supply of the most delicious fresh fruit. Right from the start we were provided with fruit and coconut drinks, all freshly prepared on board. The boat had shade, which was pretty important (most of the other boats around didn't). We spotted quite a few dolphin on the way out and some quite close to the boat. The two snorkelling locations were excellent, though visibility was somewhat down due to the weather conditions - relatively high winds. The stop for lunch was great and the food was excellent, including lobster and fresh fish. There was also a wide variety of fruits to sample. We finished off with a swim in a natural pool surrounded by mangroves which was very nice and then put the sail up to speed home in the good wind,
I was so excited to to on this trip. All the reviews were so good that I had massive expectations. The truth is that it was nice but it was not "the best day of my life" as advertised. The trip started well with a friendly crew and a first snorkeling stop. However, the place where we did stop had many damaged corals... Not so pristine afterall...Eventually we did go to a second snorkeling spot which was better and we were even allowed even to swim to the sandbank. However, no snack and no drinks... We had to insist that it had been advertised... So we were given watermelon slices... A far cry from "local delicacies"... Anyway...After that we went on the dolphin finding trip... We were first told that there was a 95% chance of seeing them, later it went down to 75% and eventually we were told it was 50/50...When we did reach Kwale island for lunch, we were in a deserted island, paradise-like, setting... It was nice but the facilities reminded us that we were in Africa... Stereotypical Africa...As for the food, well, lots of it, but not quite the seafood feast...The stopover by the mangrove was ok, but it was full tide... And we were told that we should have come in the morning (ie low tide) to enjoy it... I understand that you cannot manage the tides, but you should be able to manage the schedule of the activities in order to make sure they are enjoyable..The return to Fumba beach was quite enjoyable as we sailed back...All in all, it was nice but not up to my expectations.
We could not ask for a better day to do this tour. The sun was shining and the waters were warm and clear. Thr tour is well organised and professional. We saw unspoilt coral gardens full of fish of every colour and other sea creatures. Food and drinks were plentiful and we were spoilt with lobster for lunch under the coconut palms on Kwale island. A must do adventure.
