My friend and I finished off our amazing stay in Treasure Beach at Jake's with Captain Dennis' beach cookout trip. He came very highly recommended from other guests at Jake's (one couple did both the Black River & beach cookout with him) and we were not disappointed. Professional, friendly, polite, with a great commitment to his community ( he is a long time board member of the Breds.org Foundation) Captain Dennis was a joy to be with. I'm someone who tends to get a bit seasick but he put me at ease and I have to say the ride was much smoother than I expected. The first highlight of the day was spotting dolphins: more than a dozen travelling together. Dennis brought us in close, but not as to interfere with them. He even took my camera and took some amazing photos of them while I was able to enjoy just watching them! After plenty of time with the dolphins it was off to the white sand beach with not a soul on it. Our cookout meal was delicious: crab served on sea grape leaves, lobster tails, coconut curry chicken, festivals, rice and peas, homemade hot pickles... Washed down with some rum punch. We had plenty of time for swimming and lazing and Dennis kept saying how the day was ours: whatever we wanted to do. I would highly recommend a trip with the 30 years on the seas experienced Captain Dennis. If you still have any stress or tensions a day out with him will have them melting away. Respect & love Captain Dennis!
Captain Dennis is amazing- such a kind person! Me and my boyfriend took the boat trip that Captain Dennis arranged with another couple. We did the safari tour in the Black River, stopped for lunch, and then we went to Pelican Bar. It was a wonderful day! Dennis is super knowledgeable about anything you may want to know/learn on your trip. He is a very sincere person who genuinely wanted us to have the best experience possible, searching for dolphins and crocodiles. I highly recommend taking a boat trip with this man, you will not regret it!!
While staying at Treasure Beach my wife and i had the priviledge of doing the White Sands Deserted beach picnic with Captain Dennis.he picked us up right on time and in about 35 minutes we were on the beach.this is the most beautiful unspoiled beach i have seen. we had the whole beach to our selves .Captain Dennis cooked for us the most delicious grill lobster and fish we have eaten in treasure beach.and the home made hot pepper sauce and rum punch was out of this world.we spend all day on the beach and did not want to leave.Captain Dennis is very knowledgible about his community and surrounding.we had a long conversation with him and he is one of the most genuine person we have come to know.On our way back we stop for a beer at the pelican bar.we had one of the most fantastic, memorable day with captain Dennis and second mate Sherwayne. cant recommend him enough.and as he would say quite often (The Word is Love ).Thanks Captain.
We did the secluded beach with lunch tour! The food was absolutely delicious, the beach to ourselves was amazing!! Captain Denis was the best, he slowed down every time he saw my husband taking pictures and even pointed out certain things for him to take pictures of. Go on this tour, you will not regret it!!
A large group of friends and I went out with Captain Dennis for a day trip to the Pelican Bar, White Sand Beach and Black River, and had a lovely time. He's truly fantastic a guide, and person, and really went the extra mile at every chance, large and small, to make sure we were having an interesting and fun experience. Talk a bit with him about his approach to what he does and you'll hear something unique - someone who takes deep pride in their work and role in the world, and never stops thinking about how he can make a better experience for people. Beyond the trip he took us on, the man himself is inspiring in how he approaches what he does. Can't recommend him enough.
Captain Dennis created an amazing adventure for our large group. He really knows how to create a special experience and knows so much about so many things-- he ably captained the speed boat, knew where to go so that we could see dolphins in their natural habitat, he cooked our lunch, and told us about the wildlife we saw on Black River. He even taught hesitant friends how to jump off of the swing into the swimming hole. Captain Dennis also paid attention to little details that made a difference. For example, we were on the beach on a windy day and he and his two colleagues sprinkled water on the sand around us so that it would not blow in our faces. One thing to note is that, while the boat is a speed boat, it kind of looks like a large kayak. It is low to the ground and splashes of water sometimes gets in so you will want to bring a bag that is waterproof or a towel to cover your bag. Also, we were on the open water for a few long stretches at a time so I'd recommend bringing a hat that does not easily blow off, sunglasses and sunscreen and a coverup if you burn easily. I felt very safe with Captain Dennis though and everything we did was fun and beautiful. Overall, this was an unforgettable experience.
Our trip with Captain Dennis was the highlight of our trip to Jamaica. We came all the way from Negril, and it was worth it! Dennis took incredible care of us, making sure we were comfortable and happy. And he took us to places other tours don't go. He was such a joy to talk to, and made the day absolutely memorable. HIGHLY recommended!
fantastic trip by boat with Captain Dennisvery professional one he looked a lot to find for us a dolphins and at least we saw them ...a lot!we went in Black river trip where we saw a crocodile and we had a pleasure to swim inside too.when we back we stopped in a beautiful pellican pub in the middle of the sea, very very nice..beautiful pictures and we recommend dennis to everyone!
On Jamaica's quiet and laid-back South Coast lies the parish of St. Elizabeth . . . it of long, languid, relaxing days, romantic nights and an utterly unique vibe that has to be experienced to be appreciated. One of the unsung . . . and unadvertised . . . hidden treasures of St. Elizabeth's epicenter . . . Treasure Beach, are the boat trips of "Captain" Dennis Abrahams. "Shabba", as he is known to his friends, is a former fisherman who knows these waters and its ecology like the back of his hand. Shabba runs a number of tours, but the crème de la crème is his 6 hour excursion to a mile-long deserted beach on the shore of a large fish sanctuary that he had a hand in creating and helps manage. A 45 minute ride from the pier at Jake's Resort, the trip is utterly transporting. Crystal clear waters, dolphins, flying fish and pelicans galore along the way, gentle waves on the beach, the occasional ray swimming by, Shabba's insights into the parish and the environment and, above all, an amazing lunch of seafood, chicken and sides cooked and smoked over a wood fire make for an exceptional journey. Not to be missed.
For an authentic Jamaican experience, I highly recommend Captain Dennis tours, who took us on a wonderful excursion on the Black River. His boat is an open air fishing-type boat that holds only 8 people max. This proved to allow a more upclose and personal experience of the river. Plus we were able to get farther up the Black River where the larger covered cruise boat tours couldn't go. We made a stop at a neat little village where we enjoyed a Red Stripe beer in a thatched hut and swam and jumped into the river on a swinging rope swing. Captain Dennis was very courteous and attentive and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna.
Captain Dennis took my husband and I, along with another group of 8 out on a wonderful boat excursion, which was such a special highlight of our trip! We started out with a 40-45 minute boat ride to the secluded beach, during which spotted a family of dolphins! The beach that Captain Dennis brought us to was gorgeous and untouched--definitely a nice place to visit after spending the week on the busy Negril beach. After enjoying a few Red Stripe beers and homemade rum punch, we enjoyed the delicious seafood lunch that Captain Dennis and his crew prepared for us. Afterwards, Captain Dennis took us to the famous Floyd's Pelican Bar, which should definitely be on everyone's bucket list- such a cool place! Captain Dennis was so professional, friendly, and accommodating. It was such a pleasure to spend the day with him and I highly recommend that everyone hire him for any tour that you wish to take in the area. When you hire Captain Dennis, you don't just get a boat ride...rather, you get an unforgetable and amazing experience that you will always treasure. Thank you again for the wonderful memories, Captain Dennis. The word is love.
My Husband and I had the amasing oppurtunity with our 3 kids to go with CAPTAIN DENNIS to the WHITE SAND BEACH.From speaking with him on the phone we knew he was a gentleman, and meeting him surpass our expectation.we had a wonderful beach lunch of sea food and was cooked BY CAPTAIN DENNIS HIMSELF.MY BEST MEAL COMING TO TREASURE BEACH.The beach was beautiful ,unspoiled and hardly any foot prints ,we had the whole beach to ourselves.COULD NOT HAVE ASK FOR A BETTER DAY,A BETTER CAPTAIN OR A BETTER COOK.THANKS CAPTAIN DENNIS AND SECOND MATE SHERWANE for this Amasing day..
Dennis goes way beyond his tours and gives everyone a taste of Jamaica. He's amazing with the kids and has them from crying to laughing within minutes. My wife and I went with some Irish family and was fantasic
I went out on Captain Dennis's boat with 8 friends for a day trip to a private island and the pelican bar to celebrate my friends 45th birthday. He and his two man crew were knowledgeable, professional and all about our comfort and needs. He prepared the equivalent of a five star meal on the beach with some great rum punch for a 'feeling no pain' afternoon. I've traveled quite a bit throughout the Caribbean and this was the best tour I've been on.Thank you!!
I have been to Treasure Beach 4 times, and every time I have gone out with Captain Dennis on his boat to various locales (sometimes more than once per trip) with my group. I have been with a fitness group, with my husband, with my whole family (two tweens), and once with my mom. Captain Dennis is the BEST OF THE BEST. His boating skills are impressive -- he always keeps a casual eye on the clouds and the waves to make sure everyone is having the most fun possible without having to worry about the weather. The ride is smooth, and he keeps in contact with other boat captains to get the latest intel on where to see dolphins if possible. He is very respectful of the ocean, marine life and the environment, and always treads lightly. I highly recommend his boat ride to a private white sand beach with picnic. The beach is stunning and peaceful, there are often amazing shells to be found, the water is perfect, and the food is divine -- the freshest of ingredients prepared with lots and lots of love. On the way there, you can stop to snorkel, and on the way back you can stop at Pelican Bar for a good dose of local color and some cold beverages.Little Ochi is also a great trip, along the coast past an abandoned bauxite mining operation to an open air fish market and yummy seafood restaurant. Dennis can tell you all about what you are passing along the way, making the trip meaningful as well as beautiful and delicious. He is very knowledgable about the local area and the history. Captain Dennis cares deeply about it and is very generous about sharing his knowledge with anyone who seeks it. He is wise, kind, friendly, professional and passionate about what he does. You couldn't ask for a better guide when you are in the area, or a better excursion. So go to YS Falls, go to Border Jerk, check out the Sports Park, dance at Wild Onion or Frenchman's, but just make Captain Dennis a top priority. You won't regret it!(I am going back again in November and am already planning on my 6th excursion with him...)I know this review sounds gushing, but I couldn't be more impressed with Dennis as a guide, a boat captain and a tremendous human being. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.
