We stayed at bissells August 3rd for the week and had a blast!! The pool was wonderful and my kids had fun going down the slide, lots of fun on the zipline and rock climing walls. every morning they had activity's for the kids. Even tho it was a little pricy still had a great time.

7 years of being a seasonal campers and we love it. We have seen the changes of the place and we enjoy our weekend get away. Ed and Issabel are doing a good job of doing some improvement for the resort. The pool is the best attraction of the place.

We visited Bissell's for a Labour Day weekend. The atmosphere was so relaxed, the activities greatly timed and fun and the fireworks were AMAZING. We really enjoyed the water park and always found a shady spot even when it got busy (although the water was on a cold side). The staff was VERY friendly, the campgrounds were clean and the sites roomy. We really enjoyed the mini golf and paddle boats included in the fees, and found the zip lining, rock climbing and air jumping priced well and fun. We will definitely be returning :)

Nice campground with very nice and accommodating staff. Water park is awesome! Lots of room even when pool is busy. Site was roomy and close to activities. We were situated on an oddball site in a group of cabins and was very wet and muddy when we arrived (looked to have drainage problems). Also be prepared for a fight to start the on site camp wood, it was full of water (Other campers we spoke with also had the same issue) and at $8 a bag was a little disappointing. We will be planning to return to Bissells in the future as we did have a great time at the park (reptile show was an awesome touch!) and kept busy the with the abundance of activities. Highly recommended!

We just returned from our 2nd visit to Bissells Hideaway. We spent 6 nights with our son & his family, and other Grandchildren...ages 7, 5, 3 and 1.... The weather was varied which allowed everyone to enjoy every aspect of the park. Everyone swam, used the Splash Pad, enjoyed mini golf & the playground, paddle boats, as well as the evening shows, & nightly campfires. It was fun, relaxing & peaceful most of the time...weekends are VERY BUSY...and some days there are local Day Camps visiting as well. People are friendly, and most are respectful and cautious when driving. We really enjoyed this trip, and will return...Be forewarned to bring old loonies for the showers, as NO change will be given in the snack bar or store! This is our only complaint!

Even though I live only 15 minutes from Bissells I never really entertained the thought of going there since I am not much of a camper. I was surprised to find out they also rented full service cabins and so I decided to take my 10 year old daughter and her friend for a couple of days. I must say the experience exceeded my expectations. We were able to enjoy all the fun things about camping (campfires, swimming, bbq etc) while still being able to watch tv at night and sleep in a bed and take a shower inside our cabin. The cabins were very clean and comfortable and the park facility was kept very clean. There was lots of things to do besides swimming and I would definitely recommend Bissells to anyone who has kids and want to get away and enjoy the outdoors while enjoying the indoors at the same time. Will definitely be going back again next year.

The weather was fantastic. No bugs! We made a nice fire. WiFi works great. Great place to stay. Our kids couldn't use the slide or zip line because it wasn't open. Not sure why.

We had a very pleasant, satisfying & relaxing stay during the first weekend of July 2014. The staff were very friendly & helpful, the pool was cold, however refreshing. It was clean & well maintained. Safety was the life guards utmost priority, they ensured everyone was abiding by the rules and wouldn't tolerate horsing around. The water slide was a huge hit with my kids! The paddle boats & mini golfing were very busy, so you had to limit your time during these high volume times out of respect for others. My only complaint is the front office washrooms weren't thoroughly maintained between Saturday night to Sunday morning. The garbages were over-flowing & the woman's washroom was out of soap from Saturday night until we left on Sunday afternoon. The men's washroom was missing a door on one of their washroom stalls, so every now and then when my husband used the washroom facilities, there were men in there doing there business with no door (a bit awkward) and there was some feces that had spread on the floor.Other than that, it is a very beautiful park and I would highly recommend this park to other families. I have the confidence that if I would have brought the washroom cleanliness to the staff's attention, I'm sure they would have cleaned & re-stocked the soap immediately. I should have taken responsibility and notified the staff. The next time I definitely will!

We are locals and have seen the park evolve over the years. We wanted to take our grand children and families to Bissell's for 2 nights. There was a total of 8 adults and 5 children. Everyone was totally impressed. The sites were large and easy to access. The public washroom was very clean. Our grandchildren are 2,3,4,8 and 10 were not bored! There was lots to do for all ages. Free miniature golf and paddle boats, fantastic playground and splash pad for the younger ones, rock climbing and zip lining for the older ones as well as great pool and slide. I would highly recommend this park. All of us enjoyed our stay and no one had anything negative to say.

Had a pleasant 4-day stay the May 24 weekend at Bissell's. My daughter and her school buddy really loved the petting zoo setup near the dance hall and regularly stopped at the playground. Weather was a little chilly, but the fresh air and camp fires were great. Great service and friendly campers!

This is my second review of this campground. I am adding another review because of some of the negative comments I have read from other reviewers. We have camped at Bissells for 2 years in a row the end of August in 2012 & 2013 in our 32' travel trailer. Our past trip was just as fun as our first. For people that complain the park is too crowded, we have never camped at a family campground that isn't crowded during the summer months & book ahead so you get a better site. If you want more space, camp at a provincial park. As for noise from lawnmowers, this campground has seasonal campers who need to cut their lawn. Would you rather have the grass 2 feet tall? As for drunk campers, people do drink, we have never had an issue with anyone being disrespectful & they are just having fun, lighten up! Also the smell of marijuana is in just about every park we visit & to me is no different then the smell of cigarettes, which is every where. Yes the zip lining was not open yet but I would rather they take their time & make sure it is inspected & safe before trying it. The person who commented on running out of firewood, there are so many other things you could with your children like play a game or tell stories in the dark, it was only one night. I'm sure the parks intentions weren't to lose money by running out of fire wood that night. Sometimes things just happen & you make the best of it. I can't comment on the cabins/chalets because we have never stayed in them. There are sooo many positive features of this family campground. This past visit, my husband & I camped with 3 nine year olds & we all had a blast! Pool was clean & never crowded because of the size, rock climbing was a blast, dance on Saturday night was fun for the kids & adults, fireworks were beautiful, mini put was fun, kids enjoyed crafts/games every morning & bingo or other activities every night. People who complain about this park must find something negative about every park. Happy camping to all the happy campers!

We planned a summer vacation months ago to accommodate children ages 13, 11, 5, 4 and a small baby. This seemed like an ideal spot as they advertised a zip line, rock wall and air jump for the older ones and a great looking pool and splashpad for the younger ones. What a disappointment as the zip line and air jump weren't even working. They also advertise free wifi that you couldn't connect to even when you pay an extra $20 for their better internet you still couldn't connect. The staff were all very friendly but seemed at a loss about any info when asked about anything and sent you to the front office to get your answer. The chalet was very comfortable with a great view. Don't asked them to supply your linen for $25 as all you get are something resembling sheets, 5 towels and 1 facecloth for 4 people to last the week. Take your own. Lots of grounds to explore. I really feel for the $1400 we paid to stay 5 nights it wasn't worth it.

My family and extended family all just came back from a two night stay at Bissell's Hideaway. We've been to a few campgrounds in the past but not very many. My family would usually prefer to stay at a hotel vs. a campground because of the volume of packing involved with camping. In a hotel, we also have more options when it comes to activities, food, and available spare time because we didnt have all of the setting up to do. . For this trip, we were looking for a happy medium between outdoor camping and the luxuries of a hotel. We wanted something different, something where we didn't have to take as much (compared to camping) but still enjoy the outdoors. We found that happy medium at Bissell's hideaway. We rented one of their Rustic (basic) cabins and felt that that was enough to not have to set up a tent and take too many things but still enjoy camping and the outdoors. Upon entering the park, registration went smoothly. The wonderful lady that checked us in, immediately found our registration, knew how many people were coming and asked about our vehicles. We were registered with our parking passes and wrist band, a list of all activities and a park map within 10 minutes. She also took the time to walk us through the fastest way to get to our campsite. Driving through the park, we saw that a lot of care and attention was taken to ensure the cleanliness of the park. No garbage on the walkways, the garbage cans were not overflowing, the pool looked immaculate (a small note on this later), and the trees were well trimmed and maintained. When we got to the cabin, both the inside and outside was cleaned to our satisfaction. The firepits were emptied from the last guests and the cabins were swept. We just had to haul our things inside. We rented three cabins and all three were in the same, clean condition. There were tons of space to park 1-2 vehicles next to each cabin (depending on the size of your vehicles). The park facilities that we used included - use of the pool, the showers, the washrooms, paddle boats, children's playground, visited the ice-cream shop, visited their general store and took walks around the large pond. Overall everything was well maintained and clean. I dont really see why there were bad reviews for things like the golf course or any of the facilities, because to me everything looked great! You're not at a 5 star resort, you're outdoors, so you must expect some leaves and debris to be flying around. The park attendants worked their best to keep things clean and it showed. I guess to recommend few areas for improvement I would suggest the following. Firstly, although the washrooms were clean and accessible... there just wasnt enough for the amount of campers there. Maybe during low-season it works, but for high-season maybe look into some portable showers and/or toilets for use. I understand that it may not be cost effective to operate more because it's good enough most of the time. However, maybe for the months of July-Aug it could be feasible to bring in some portable washroom facilities. Secondly, the pool area needed a tad bit of checking (for things like band-aids and dog poopy bags). While we were there, there was a doggie bag of poo and a couple of band-aids around the pool area. The life guards are busy doing their jobs and I dont expect that they would have the time to look after things like that. Perhaps someone else could do a random check every 1-2 hours around the pool to ensure that it's clean. We were there at the pool for approx. 3 hours and noticed that the bag of poo and band-aids were there the entire time. Even with multiple life guards crossing it, it remained there. It wasn't directly in the pool, so I didnt bother mentioning it to anyone. But it was noticeable. It was a black bag with brown paws and slightly elevated, which lead me to believe that something was inside. The band-aids were also noticeable. Other than those few small items for consideration, I dont see anything else for improvement. The park was layed out well and we all (all 13 of us) felt that the time was well spent. Lots to do and plenty to see. Although the rustic cabins were good enough for us because of the duration of our stay and what we were looking for; if you're looking for something even better they had other cabins that would work for a longer stay. These cabins came with fridges, countertops, stoves, sinks, etc. We enjoyed the ponds, the scenery, the ice-cream shop and all of the other ammenities. Their selections were small but just perfect enough for us. Our kids enjoyed the paddle boats and the swimming pool alot. The pool was on the cool side, but again, not a reason to complain. You would probably have the same concern with any outdoor, public use pool. I would highly recommend Bissell's' for a great family get-away. Perfect balance between comfort and nature!
