thunder bay military museum

This is a surprisingly nice little museum; the "surprising" part of it is that there were huge German POW camps in Thunder Bay area where UK basically kept German prisoners so that they couldn't escape, and that part is actually covered in the museum. It is a bit amateurish (well, it's a volunteer museum), but it is alright; I learned quite a few new things there. I believe that it is guided tour by appointment only, so be careful with timing.

5 boys and I toured the museum early Saturday morning. The hours are limited but the volunteer was very excited and informative. It is a small local military museum with limited space but still interesting to see. They are going throught some changes right now and we are interested in going back again to see the new room when it is finished.

A former German prisoner of war gifted the museum with sketches he had made in prisoner of war camps in North Western Ontario. These were framed with funding from Allianz Insurance and are a hidden gem in Thunder Bay.The museum is located in the armory 317 Park Ave west of Algoma Street.

Atrações em Thunder Bay são difíceis. O museu militar é de fácil acesso. Não consegui entrar no dia que fui pois como na é cheio, não tem gente lá o tempo todo. Procure terças feiras pois não paga...
